Stansted really is the new hell. I have been using this airport for 20 years, it was once lovely. I appreciate it has got busier with all the low cost flights that I am grateful for, however they haven't accommodated the new crowds well and it is always a stressful experience. I've been through Stansted 4 times in the past month, arrivals are slightly better, still don't understand why under 18s can't use the iris scanner. Why did I have to pay so much for my kids to have this technology in their passports and they can't use it! Very sad they have moved the car rentals - it used to be so easy, now it's another hassle.
Departures early in the morning are a nightmare, the security queues are so ridiculously long, the staff often rude and surly. the worst though is the new look departure lounge, the long corridor of manic selling, people thrusting unwanted items at you at 6am until you get to the overcrowded circle of seats were you can wait. We used to have breakfast and shop, now I don't.
