Stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The coffee and the food is very good and reasonably priced for the quality. The service was fine - perhaps a bit too attentive. For me, what really doesn't work is the ambiance. This restaurant is sort of like a Whole Foods experience - a pretentious, upscale, overly stimulating open cafe that exploits our desire to be uber-healthy and maybe save the planet at the same time.

What mattered was that even with the place 20% full, it was very loud and distracting. Earthy couple in the corner fawning over their Little Einstein, a pair of chiseled mature men kibitzing at another table, and a group of retirees struggling to discuss the news of the day over the din in the "lounge" area. I'm just looking for a quiet, simple place to sip some cappuccino with my mate and solve the problems of the world. We decided to get our meal to go and eat in the nearby park. I'd settle for a drive-thru window perhaps. The dining experience here just isn't for me.
