I have never encountered such incompetent management. In the year our property was being managed through Independent, they:
* Provided inaccurate accounts.
* Unnecessarily withheld funds and misreported their intended purpose.
* Failed to pay several outstanding bills and to follow up on the causes of unpaid bills, resulting in over $450 of late fees.
* Misappropriated funds from our tenant s account, resulting in $1500 being withdrawn from his account without consent.
* Failed to act on instructions, including:
several maintenance requests, requiring both the tenant and owners to follow up on many, many occasions
updates to our bank details, resulting in several months worth of payments going into the incorrect account
* Were untimely in addressing serious maintenance issues - it took 6 months to have the heating/aircon fixed
* Failed to communicate effectively, for example:
owners and tenant were not informed upon the departure of the property manager
communications only being sent to one of the two owners
failure to respond to emails
neglected to respond to requests for financial clarification
* Continued to pay bills and send us accounts after we had moved to new property management.
