Don't call them! You are an adult now so get your butt up and actually go to the school and speak to them. Oh and if you go during busy times of the year then be prepared to wait, that is not their fault though. Grow up and learn to act responsibly you are not going to get everything handed to you over the phone anymore....

Now that I am done with my rant from reading the other comments I will continue with my own. GTCC is a very good school, when i say this I base it completely on the price and the staff. Sure I don't think their enrollment is completely stable. Though I do like it better since they have assigned everyone their own adviser, that helped a lot.

Now price wise I can see others complaining about books and all. Well guess what? It is the same or worse at other colleges (depending on your classes you take) and on top of that you have a higher tuition and maybe even room and board to worry about. I don't always agree with the financial aid and I personally do not receive any because my parents claim me on their taxes still so that I can be under their insurance. But I have seen plenty of people get by great with it and I have even spoken to people who had enough for everything and then a little left over. It is income based so for each person it will be different.

Speaking of books, do not go to the book store on the first or last few days. If you do you will be waiting in line for 2-3 hours. You can order your books online through the book store or you can go other places. Just check online and you can find out what books you need, as long as you use the IBN, or whatever it is called number. When you do this though also check to see if you need any of the labs (myspanishlab, myeconlab, mymathlab, ect.) This is where people mess up they pay cheap for a used book but then have to turn around and pay a lot for a new code. But if you are careful you can get everything except workbooks and such from the book store. Or if you do want to go early you can get used books from the book store itself at a cheaper price.

The staff here is very nice and, as far as instructors go, are easy to get in contact with. They have office hours that no one ever seems to come to, but hey they are there! They normally have a decent email turn around policy, most seem to be two school days but some will get to you sooner. This means a lot to me because I went to a big university and came back here when I decided I did not know what I wanted anymore and didn't want to pay an arm and a leg to figure it out either. Trust me when you are in class sizes of 75-250 and the professor has multiple classes you do not get the one on one feel anymore. There is normally a line to meet with them after class and you are lucky if you get to before the next class shows up. Oh and meeting them any other time? Appointment only and it is usually very hurried on top of that. So be thankful for what you get at a place like this. I will also add that most of my professors were teaching at another school too while doing this one, or switched schools in order to be closer to their students. I've had some from UNCG, Elon, High point University, A&T, just to name a few, so you are not usually getting anything less then what you would somewhere else.

I also like that they have multiple campuses, the Greensboro one is a lot closer to me personally. But yes there are less classes offered there so you have to be quick and it is smaller, it is a very nice campus though.

Is GTCC a perfect school? Heck no. But I do not believe it deserves some of the comments on here. Be an adult and go in person, like someone else explained they are too busy meeting with people one on one to be bothered with your foolishness. I do like it though and am going to be a little sad to transfer from it to a University next year. Oh well though... life!

Good luck with what you choose, but hey coming from a shopaholic why spend twice as much for something when you can go here and get the same dang thing?
