Our dog has been a 2-3 time a week regular and has had training there as well. Picked her up today and she was limping badly and wouldn t set her front left paw on the ground. When the manager was walking her out to me I immediately noticed the limp but the caregivers didn t. After pointing it out to the surprised manager, off to the vet we went. On the way, I called the manager at Guardian K9 and asked her to ask the staff if they saw anything. She said our dog spent most of the day lying by herself in the corner and having a chill day. I pointed out that would be alarming considering the high energy level of our boxer. Why didn t they call us I asked and why did her report card say how high our dog s energy level was today (The staff consistently tells us how much she plays and how active she is). The veterinarian and staff, who have seen our dog a lot less than the Guardian K9 staff, were concerned with the limp and lack of energy. I told the vet Guardian K9 said our dog had a chill day and he said that s not her. Our dog s shoulder is injured and she had two shots plus we have to medicate and monitor her for a week and hope for recovery. If she doesn t improve dramatically then further procedures will follow. After thanking the vet for seeing us so quickly, I called Guardian K9 and asked for the manager. I relayed my disappointment in our dog s care and again asked how they didn t notice anything. She said our dog didn t limp until she got to the lobby but I told her I saw her limping the entire way to the lobby. How didn t the manager not notice? The story changed a bit and now our dog played really hard, got tired, and then chilled. I pointed out the change in story but was told I had misunderstood. No way, our dog was being properly looked after and the thought of her hurting in a corner upsets me. I thanked the manager and told her our dog wouldn t return to their facility again and she apologized. Things happen and dog s get hurt I get it. However, our dog was with Guardian K9 for 6 hours today and their entire staff failed to notice a limp and odd behavior as our energetic dog sat in a corner alone.
