I was admitted to the hospital on 24.6.18 for a replacement aortic replacement valve.I was in a pretty poor state of health by then very weak and dizzy.Immediately on admission I felt relaxed and not nervous about the open heart surgery, due to to kindness and obvious competence of the staff, who see these operations performed every day,I just wanted it done to regain my health. My Surgeon,Mr Omar Nawaytou, had done his best to perform this surgery as soon as was possible, which I very much appreciated.I was treated with care and kindness during the duration of my stay. The surgery was not straightforward,as it was discovered that I had a mass on my chest, which was a low grade cancer, and lumps on my lungs on the other side. The mass had to be removed,so I was in surgery from Monday afternoon, all night,as I was bleeding, then back to surgery on the Tuesday morning.I had to have 2 blood transfusions.I was extremely weak naturally.Mr Nawaytou came to see me and explained about the mass on my chest, which he reassured me about, very emphatically, and the lumps on my lungs which would be monitored. My care in the hospital was wonderful, and there is no doubt that Outstanding is well deserved,by Surgeons,Doctors,Nurses, and everyone employed there.Mr Nawaytou wrote again to reassure me,and arranged for me to see Mr Steven Woolley at my follow up appointment. He also showed me my scans,x rays, and also emphasised that the thymoma was removed, and more information about it.Between them they gave me peace of mind, which is the greatest thing of all.I have recovered well from my heart surgery, and 8 weeks on I can walk 3 miles, and am regaining control of my life.I feel really well,so you just can t put a price on that.I am indebted to you all!
Thank you!(Mrs) Barbara Lynne Roberts.
