Ported our numbers a week early rather than releasing and keeping functional until our cut over date. Typically when a port is initiated, the number is released and then picked up from another vendor pending final port request. None of our other vendors holding our 800 numbers had this issue in understanding standard protocol. We didn't have to hold their hand or instruct them.
The account manager we had does not understand this process. We were able to forward the numbers they ported prematurely to a back up number we had on a separate vendor that DID follow the correct protocol (that number is set to be ported as well, they received the same exact port request)
