I just arrived home after a 7 hour stay in the ER. My husband with stage 4 cancer arrived by ambulance due to possible stroke or TIA. Initial tests by EMT was inconclusive. Besides the P.A. coming in a couple times to give test results etc (she was the nicest one we experienced) my husband had zero care. His nurse for 7 hours not once came in to ask how he was doing, offer a cup of water, nothing. The Dr. on duty came in once about 1 1/2 of arrival with a complete and total attitude of you are a nuisance and the tone of voice as well. The transport team to X-ray and to the other floor were very sweet. He was admitted to another floor and already my husband feels better and more at ease with his care that team is giving him. Maybe the team in ER needs a vacation or maybe they are burnt out. In either case, we the patients, deserve better.
