I live out of town and I've gone every year during the holidays for my entire life, and now for the first time in the summer. This is the best zoo I've been to. Huge beautiful and clean layout with a variety of animals. The best defining factors are the focus on the welfare of the animals and sustainability. The animals have large and stimulating habitats; they genuinely look happy (as opposed to other zoos I've been to where they have bare enclosures and look sad and lonely). There are signs all around the zoo about how what they do to protect the environment; the parking lot is shaded by hundreds of solar panels. In the winter, the Festival Lights is just so magical and romantic. This will be your new tradition year round.
