I never thought that when the time came to have a drink in a restaurant lobby, it would be in my own town. Lindner is a recently refurbished hotel located behind Antwerp Central station with a good reputation. Their bar underwent a similar treatment and looks very inviting. It was what drew us in when walking past it one Monday night.
The place was not deserted, and the effort that went into the restyling definitely pays off, as at no point during the night you get the impression you re seated in some kind of vamped up lobby.
A few points for improvement though: the colourful lighting kept going at it all evening long. There was no real reason for the disco-esque flashing beams switching between colourful increasingly fast. The huge disco ball was a nice touch among the many plants and cosy lights, the laser beams highly superfluous.
The other point were the drinks: while the prices are reasonable, the cocktails can use some tweaking and maybe some professional attention. The waiter took some time to get to the table, even though it wasn t that busy, and the drinks were too basic to fit this venue.
All and all it was a nice experience, that can be lifted to an even better one with a little more attention to a few key factors.
