My boyfriend and I have lived in a tiny, overflowing studio in Manhattan for over two years and finally moved into a spacious 1-bedroom in Brooklyn last month! He wanted to do it all ourselves, but luckily I was able to convince him that movers are the way to go, and let's just say these guys put the "Divine" in their title. They took so much stress out of the transition, and I couldn't be more thankful. Even my boyfriend is a convert! They handled all of our possessions with the utmost of care, and were very proactive in the way they worked.
What we were most worried about was my boyfriend's giant collection of comic books (some very valuable) but the movers couldn't have been more gentle, and took extra care with our very fragile bookshelf.
They are definitely a must if you're moving in NYC.
