Our physician scheduled a CT Scan for 7 am for my husband. Keep in mind we live in Wichita, forty minutes away, and that he's in a lot of pain. When he arrive he was told he'd have to wait for an additional hour so that someone in billing could come to work and get a preauthorization from the insurance company. They also said my husband would have to sign a document stating he would be responsible for the bill. They were unable to tell how much the CT Scan would cost, so in essence he would have been signing a blank check. Their told him they would write up a bill and at that time he would know how much it would cost. I hope the medical staff doesn't mirror the poor service my husband received before even being seen. Needless to say, he received medical attention at elsewhere, with better service and he didn't even have to sign a "blank check".
