I've been paying taxes my entire adult life, most of it in Florida. I worked for the same company for almost two years in Florida before taking a position with the same company in Texas.

4 months later, in April, I was furloughed because of COVID and advised by the Dept of Labor to file in the State I most recently worked. Two months later Texas finally ruled that I had to file in Florida since I'd spent all but two weeks of the last tax year working there. I filed the same day in June that this was ruled.

Despite explaining this to FL DEO, I've been ruled ineligible for pandemic assistance (i.e. the extra $600 a week) and also they have decided not to backdate my claim to April. This adds up to almost $10,000 in assistance that is being withheld from me.

I have burned through my personal savings like crazy and have tried called FL DEO many times. Every time I speak with someone they either tell me that they have to transfer my call, and then end up disconnecting the call, or they simply hang up on me mid conversation.

I've always paid my taxes, I served my country in the Army, I've only ever had so much as a speeding ticket on my record, never had any government assistance of any kind in my life, and yet the one time that I ask for a helping hand, I don't get one.
