This basilica is the heart of Catholicism in the United States under the patronage of our Lady in her title of Immaculate Conception (meaning she was conceived protected from all stain of original sin and the graces of her Son, our Savior Christ Jesus coming redemption on the Cross were poured forth on her first, beforehand and most abundantly of all human persons as she was to bear the God Man as the New Ark of the Covenant, fashioned to be a pure tabernacle for Divinity enfleshed. The basilica has many side chapels both on the main level and in the crypt dedicated to our lady s various titles from around the world. You should come here and plan to spend hours here. Once you visit the first time, your heart may keep calling you back. I ve even enjoyed Easter Vigil Mass here, the high point of our Liturgical year.
