Member of my family had a experience in A&E when blood was supposed to have been taken to check for an heart attack. After waiting for some time noticing that another patient with simular Chest Pains came in had their blood taken. After commenting about the situation the nurse on duty replied rudely that she had only one pair of hands and that they were short of staff who could take blood and should wait.
After waiting a few hours still in a lot of pain with no pain relief a member of staff came up and said that the doctor had a look at your blood results and everything was fine and that you can go home.
No blood was ever taken or sent for tests so how could they know the results. After commenting on this they said it was done. There were no canulars in the arms or needle marks so later a young nurse red faced came and took blood. This was new staff as the other nurse that was supposed to take blood was off duty and was home.
Luckily everything was fine with the test and was sent home.
