Food was very plain or customary for the event if you been to 1luau you won't miss out on another's food. The hula dancers were good and the events leading up to the event were meh imo. I think most luau events require some liquor to really enjoy. If you haven't been to one I suggest Polynesian cultural center it's a day event and you can learn.
