Isolated and old-looking, you can appreciate the 94-year history of this place. It helps if you are comfortable punching your own AmTote tickets because even on Derby Day the number of parimutuel tellers is scant. That said, left Sanford at 09:20, walked in and got the lay of the land, studied the tote boards, handicapped the Derby, placed my wagers and was back home by 10:35. Free parking, free entry to simulcasting, no lines to speak of. It's more Waffle House than Truluck's. No tuxedo required.
