We went to Steamhouse Lounge because we were looking for crab legs, and we got much more than we bargained for! Divey atmosphere, friendly staff, good food, and what seemed to be a band of regulars hanging around on the main floor. This restaurant looks like a seafood shack from Charleston, and our experience was similar, too!
We knew that the lobster bisque was highly reviewed across the internet, and we were starving when we arrived, so we got a bowl as an appetizer. This soup is delicious, y'all! There was so much shredded clumps of lobster; I'd never had a seafood bisque with so much meat! The flavors were so well balanced, there wasn't any harsh acidity from the tomato, and it wasn't overly sweet, either. This was excellent.
Turns out there was a deal going on for crab legs that Monday night. $12 for a pound! I got that with a side of hush puppies. You know how many restaurants cook their crab legs so that they're too salty? Steamhouse Lounge's crab legs still had that light, sweet crab taste! The melted butter included was garlicky, not too salty, either. I was so happy! A delicious pound of crab legs for just $12? I definitely want to return, and I'll probably order the exact same thing.
My husband got the fried shrimp, which I really liked, too. The shrimp still had that firm, popping bite, which is so important in fried shrimp. He said there wasn't enough breading on the shrimp and that it fell off, but I didn't notice. I could have eaten all of his food along with mine.
Our waitress was covering the entire main floor, and she was great. It seemed like everyone was enjoying everything at this place. It was a great atmosphere.
