Having to experience the loss of my mom due to cancer has been a life changing event in my life. I am so glad that I got the chance to get into the Walk with Sally mentor program. This program and organization is very kind and loving and is able to understand the impact cancer can really have on a person. Being able to be in an environment where I don't feel alone or where I can comfortably talk about my experience is so amazing. Walk with Sally has truly been a gateway for me to grow as an individual with the help of my mentor, as well as with the help of the Walk with Sally community. Being 17 years old and dealing with the loss of my mom is very hard but thanks to this program I've gained more confidence in myself to strive for the better. As a junior mentor and an intern I have been able to observe and learn that Walk with Sally's message is very important and that those who have been impacted by cancer don't need to walk alone, together we can keep going and lastly, that our hardships don't define us, they only shape who we are, and make us stronger.
