The experience that I have had with the YMCA at the beginning of this global pandemic and through even today has been nothing but troubling, insulting, stressful and terrible. I signed up for a trial membership for one dollar at the end of February just before everything shut down. I had recently given birth to a premature infant and when the news of Covid spread I tried to cancel my membership but was told that I had to do so in person. I said that I was uncomfortable coming into a branch I had never been into a branch and with the pandemic looming I wanted to cancel my membership by phone or by email. Mind you I have all if the email records. Not only did they not cancel my membership for months ( I still had never visited) They kept billing my account. I tried to dispute it with my financial institution I canceled my credit cards and tried to switch my account number and I was only met with threats To send my account to legal collection. Again I had never set foot in a YMCA I had made three attempts to cancel my account and was met with nothing but rudeness. While my husband was furloughed from work and I had a premature baby and a toddler at home to care for the YMCA cause multiple NSF fees in my bank account because they just would not stop taking money from an account that I canceled and now I get a letter in the mail saying will be so kind to dismiss the balance of your account. I wouldn't have a balance on my account if anyone would have done as asked in writing. In addition to this- I was also sent collection letters to my home twice in someone else's name. The YMCA should be ashamed of themselves. I will never rejoin, pay this "balance" or recommend them to anyone.
