I feel really bad writing a negative review becaus...

I feel really bad writing a negative review because I understand that mistakes during weddings are inevitable. However, this degree of unprofessionalism, lack of organization and lack of maturity is something which needs to be made public.

I hired Zahra, owner of Fusion Event Planning for my Desi wedding. For those who don't know, Indian weddings are usually larger than life and require a planner who can coordinate with family and vendors seamlessly. This is why we paid in the thousands to hire someone to take the burden off us, unfortunately hiring her only increased our burden. The days leading up to the wedding were sufficient, she wasn't bad but she wasn't good either. Her responsiveness, her creativity, her attention to detail, it was all just fair, but she tried her best and we appreciated it because we thought she had it under control.
The problems all started with day one of the event. She showed up late to the events and left early. She kept saying "I have other events going on at the same time and need to organize my staff." I was embarrassed to ask my family to help with set-up when they travelled so far. She assured that the next day she will be there.
On the next day, my make-up vendor was calling Zahra because she was at the hotel waiting and she never picked up the phone! Our event started late so the make-up lady wasn't sure what time we were coming and was about to leave, thank goodness my sister was a secondary contact or else she would've left!
On the wedding day Zahra's team was all over the place- the reserved tables weren't all labeled (family was sitting in back of room because all the plaques weren't placed), food labels were missing (a task zahra was suppose to check), all drinks were not picked up from the car to the reception venue etc..

I should've believed the two negative reviews on the the knot instead I felt Zahra's team would pull through but they didn't. At the end of the day the wedding went really well but it wasn't due to Zahra, it was because I had great family and bridesmaids who helped fix all of her blunders. Go with someone who is more established and mature. Maybe fusion does regular events really well but they completely dropped the ball with wedding planning, particularly Indian weddings.
