We booked our timed ticket for the house online, but still arrived 30 minutes before, to park, queue for the free shuttle bus, and wander leisurely to the house.

All went very smoothly and the volunteers and staff were all lovely and helpful, friendly and human!

We spent about 2 hours walking round the house (though we then reached saturation point and left without seeing everything ... there's SO much) ... and then walked down the hill to the stables cafe for very yummy chicken skewers. We also had an ice cream (to help with the big walk back up the hill to the house and parterre). It is possible to eat in the restaurant up at the house, but I'd recommend seeping the house and garden BEFORE going to the stables block unless you're ok with hills!

We were fine (aged 42 and 69) ... and the views and gardens are worth a leisurely stroll or sit!

The bedding plants were going in (1st June), so these will be looking fantastic very soon.
