This hotel is 10 minutes from EVERYTHING in Waterloo and about 15 minutes (if that) to St.Jacobs (go see the market). The convenience of where it is located is hard to beat. We attended the Comedy Festival in both Kitchener and Waterloo. Cab rides to downtown Kitchener were only $15 or so.

The room: It was CLEAN. There were no funky smells and I didn't see any broken windows or duct tape anywhere as some other reviewer said. I agree with a previous reviewer who said the beds were comfy. There were 4 pillows to every queen bed and they were fat lovely pillows that didn't make me regret not bringing my own. We always have to ask for more pillows at hotels - we didn't have to this time!

The bathroom had clearly been renovated and the tiles were very zen and lovely. Lots of sumptuous large towels and I even liked their earth friendly soaps and shower gels. Again: CLEAN. Hanging in the closet were two cozy, thick, double layered cotton/terry robes that we loved borrowing for our trip to the pool and sauna.

The pool: It's a saline pool, and it's pretty warm! Gotta love that. The hot tub was not operational while we stayed. There is a functioning sauna though, that was sweet and in good working order. There are lots of tables around the pool and lovely huge windows that makes the pool area super bright.

Breakfast: Amazing free breakfast featuring delish scrambled eggs, sausages, one day there were tater tots and one day breakfast potatoes (really great potatoes!). There was also fresh fruit salad! Make your own Belgian Waffles! There are cereals, toasts and all the fixings. One day I had the most amazing marble rye bread. Only bummer was the coffee. It could be better. There's a Kurig in the front lobby though, so that's always available.

The staff were very nice. No complaints at all. Always available for any questions we had and were friendly and polite.

This is clearly an older hotel. I won't debate that, but they've done a stellar job of updating it and keeping it fresh looking. I think the fact that it's older gives it a certain charm. There's a beautiful courtyard in the center of the hotel for seating in the summer with lots of tables and chairs. There are sky lights all over as well. In the breakfast room there's a partition made of wood that's really cool looking. You'd be hard pressed to find this level of charm at a newer hotel.

The parking lot has some older pavement, but again, it isn't terrible by any means. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat! Thanks for such a lovely stay! You knocked Comedy Festival out of the park for us!
