I recently visited a church in Monterey and was pleasantly surprised by the warm and inviting atmosphere at St Timothy Lutheran Church. The sermons were thought-provoking and the music was beautiful. It's clear that this church is dedicated to creating a welcoming space for all people. I would definitely recommend checking it out.
