Rebirth of a landmark!

Rebirth of a landmark!
It's been over 25 year's since I moved from California and even longer since visiting the Castaway restaurant. On a recent trip to see family we chose to celebrate a birthday here. I was really impressed with the modernization of the restaurant - the bar, dining area and patio are all beautifully designed and decorated and very befitting of the million dollar view from their hilltop location.
But how's the menu? Equally impressive! Standards are reimagined with unique flavors that delighted without being overly pretentious. The Short ribs were a fine example of this where I found the cranberry accompaniment so much more enjoyable than the typical too-rich red wine reduction. Their duo scallops were cooked to perfection, bright citrus sutble sweet flavors were fabulous - don't think I had better. And if you have a big party like we had I'd definitely recommend to top off the evening with 'a night in Paris' (pictured) for dessert.
I certainly can't afford to add this establishment to my regular rotation but I am not going to wait another 25 years for a return.
