Everything in this tiny cramped airport, badly undersized for the average inflow of passengers, is done on the cheap (except food and merchandise prices). The structure can't be significantly enlarged and they must make do with an airport area that may have been sufficient in the early 1950s, as with many other things in Italy. But instead of catering to passengers' needs, "money comes first" and a (relatively) huge surface is occupied by shops and eateries (sell-sell-sell!!!) to the detriment of passengers who don't even have enough seating as they wait for boarding (this is a real scandal). Laughably, they have long built two fingers for faster and more comfortable boarding but the fingers are not in use yet (did they build them for the show only?) and to get to your plane you either walk across the runway or, more often, are carried by bus (even if your plane sits just 100 meters away, which often makes passengers sarcastically giggle). In short, this is a small charter flight facility for tourists pathetically aping the great European airports. But the business running it is happy with the income, so who are we to criticize?
