Historical homes that have been continuously occupied since they were built, are reasonably rare and I appreciate this for that alone if nothing else. All the gardens are in arguably sad repair, if with a sign that indicates there will be some renovation in the near future, the interior of the house is perfect, kept almost exactly the way it was left when the last residents lived there.

The docent was both well-spoken and incredibly knowledgeable, with ready answers for most of my questions despite the fact I have been known to inquire about very obscure things. The tour occupies the full amount of time, and feels neither too slow nor rushed, covering the entire house in about an hour. I look forward to returning to the house when they have renovated the gift shop to turn it back into the library.
