Watch out for Ghosts ...On the stairs!

Watch out for Ghosts ...On the stairs!
Obviously the hideously rich people who built and lived in this house didn't like being forced to sell and leave in the year seventeen twenty ten when the aristocracy became unpopular after the invention of things like XFactor and Dinner Date. They put the car park as far away as possible so you have to squash into a bus to get to the house. It's a bit weird but it passes quickly if you sing to yourself or have a little cry.
The house is glorious! It's in stunning condition and massive. We visited at a very busy time and I'm afraid the sheer volume of people took the edge off the experience, as we had to keep moving and watch our back every two seconds. In true National Trust fashion the lighting is dim and the curtains are almost shut (I know its to protect the priceless stuff and all) Its just I'm always nervous of tripping and head-butting a Georgian vase, or going buttocks first down a historical staircase. The restaurant on the ground floor has a wonderful atmosphere and great food. Its a bit expensive but that's ok as it keeps the numbers down. The coffee area out the back was packed but good. We may try and visit again outside the school holidays. We moved so swiftly through the house I didn't really get much of the history or the people who lived there...So I'm much sorry, any notes attached to my photos are just ...made up.
Will come again ...even if just to experience the Calcutta bus station experience.
