On May 24, 2018 around 11:00 Am I spoke to the director LaShawn Talbert about my concerns about my son s teacher (Teacher/Mrs. China's assistant) not being attentive enough to him. On May 23, 2018 I observed his teacher holding him in one arm while holding and looking at her cell phone with her other hand. This wasn't the first time that I noticed her not paying attention. The other time Liam was playing with toys and she was near him but was using her cell phone. When she noticed me walking in she quickly put it away. I explained all of this to Mrs. Talbert that morning. I also mentioned another major concern of mines that I noticed from the lead teacher (Mrs. China). Liam had gotten constipated so I took him to the doctor and he suggested Liam drink only 16 ounces of milk/water during the day. She gave me a note (May 18, 2018) and I shared it with his Mrs. China and Mrs. Talbert and they both assured me they would follow it. However, the same day I gave the note when I picked Liam up I asked how much milk/water he'd had and they said only 3 ounces. Since it was only the first day I wasn't upset but this continued throughout the rest of the week up to May 24, 2018. After talking with Ms. China I found out that she didn't offer him the option of milk/water every day. And when I spoke to Mrs. Talbert about it she said she wasn't aware! And from the first day I'd given them the note she had me thinking that Liam was being offered the liquids. She then stated to me that they don't force feed children and that they knew what they were doing with the children at her center. I asked her if I could see video footage of Liam in the class so I could see him drinking. She refused and stated that video footage wasn't for parents but only her and her staff. I was very upset but there was nothing I could do so I went home. That same evening I noticed a few scratches/areas of redness on Liam's body (elbow, inner arm and neck). He'd had a scratch on his eye but Mrs. China explained to me he'd been rubbing it and accidentally scratched himself. I believed her and was thankful for an explanation. After seeing the other spots on Liam I was kind of nervous to tell Mrs. Talbert after she'd talked to me so badly earlier that day about my other concerns. But I love my son and had to find out why there were areas on his body. It was too late to notify her that evening so I sent her a picture and email the next morning around 9:30 AM. That's when I received an email from her stating she was terminating my son as of May 25, 2018. I responded to it letting her know I didn't appreciate the way she'd talked to me after I expressed my concerns and that I felt much disrespected. Since I am from Vietnam she treated me like I couldn t understand her and as if I didn't know what I was doing as Liam's mother. It was also very unfair to terminate me when she could've just let me see the video footage or tried to work things out with me. I have asked her for my security deposit back of 210.00 because now I am forced to find other childcare arrangements for my son. They refused to refund me.
