I had tired of all the emails that Replacements had been sending me, almost daily, for months. Until today! They actually emailed me today to let me know that they found a piece that I needed to complete my collection of Russel Wright dinnerware.

Yes, this is emotional for me. My parents got this dinnerware as a wedding gift in 1950; they never used it. Recognizing its utilitarian beauty they stored it in a special cabinet. As a child I had always admired the collection and often snuck into the cabinet to handle the pieces in the collection.

On one such visit when I was about 10 years old, I was admiring a salad bowl with a lid. The lid fell off and not only broke, but landed on the pepper shaker and broke that too!

Shortly after moving to Atlanta in 2007 at a visit to the High Museum of Art, what did I see but the EXACT pitcher that was in my parents' collection on display as a representation of utilitarian art!

When my parents passed away a few years later there was only one thing that I wanted...that collection! Thankfully my siblings had no dispute with me on that selection! There were so many other more "beautiful" things that were left for us to split up. But not to me.

Once I had the collection in my possession I started searching for the missing pepper shaker and that is how I discovered Replacements. Not only did they have the replacement piece, but they even took the time to reach out to me to confirm that I needed the Pepper shaker (with larger holes) and not the Salt shaker.

On a visit up north I stopped to visit Replacement in NC and brought along my lid-less salad bowl. When I asked them if it was even possible that they could find a replacement lid; and even if they did, would it only be available as a set with the bowl. I think they said something like, "We are Replacements, anything is possible!"

Well, today I ordered my lid! Thank you Replacements! My salad bowl with the missing lid (on the right) and I are waiting in anticipation for the lid's arrival so they can finally be reunited after 55 years!
