Nice! I like this. Pure use of sunlight for energy. Most people don't realise that PV cells actually result in a depleted material and so are using earth's reources. PV cells still rocks, but I like this for its purity.

- 1 for possible avoidable enviro impact as follows:

In some other reviews people claimed large numbers of birds are killed per year - one person said 20,000 per annum.

I don't live in the US so I haven't read anything about this issue before coming across the project, but I do note Wikipedia cites a study conducted by biologists on the issue. That study seems to have reported 290 bird deaths in 5 months in the area, about A THIRD of which were attributed to the "solar flux" from the Ivanpah. That suggest an annul average of about 240 birds killed by the project. If this is wrong, someone should update Wikipedia.

While seemingly much less than some amounts claimed, it seems those deaths still could be avoided or significantly reduce by employing one of any number of avian deterent strategies common place these days. Indeed it is not clear whether any measures have been implemented since.

I deducted 1 star because of this lack of action - whether just past or past and present.
