In January, I went in to the ER with an inflamed gall bladder. They ran blood tests, gave me an ultrasound & a CT Scan, and sent me via ambulance to the Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento for additional tests, (including a MRI) and possible removal of my gall bladder. Before I left the ER, though, the attending ER Physician said the ultrasound and CT Scan had shown a growth (over an inch in size) on my kidney, which was possibly malignant, and that I should go to my Dr. and have him refer me to a high end teaching school, like UC Davis or UCSF. I was referred to UCSF, Interventional Radiology department, and less than 6 weeks later I was all taken care of! UCSF works closely with Sutter Lakeside so that every 3 months Sutter can do the blood tests & CT Scans or MRIs, and they transfer them directly to UCSF, and my doctor there can review them before our video appointment. It saves so much time, travel, stress, and gas to travel to Sutter Lakeside, a 15 minute trip from my home, instead of 2 1/2 hours to San Francisco. The staff, nurses, techs, and doctors are professional, caring, and helpful. I appreciate all their help!
