I needed to buy a car became I had my car for ten years and it was her time. I did all the research I needed with the help of my husband who is stationed in another state. I was going to make this purchase alone which already intimidated me. I went to the dealership and they did not have the car I wanted so we drove over to superior. While there I was left outside for over 30 minutes in over 90 degree weather. They told me they had lost the keys. I got to drive the car back to the other dealership with was probably the best part of this whole encounter. When discussing pricing I wanted a certain price out the door with the pre-approval that I had. The finance guy came around and said they could give me my asking price out the door only if I financed with them. I agreed because that was a really fair price for the car.
I filled out the loan information and waited to get taken to the back. When I got to the back with the finance guy, that is where things got worse. He was explaining about how Hyundai has this new warranty for my car and all these things. At no time did he mention prices or say that is costing me extra. Going over the paper I was confused but the numbers because no where did it have the price we agreed upon. I asked him how he got certain numbers and he was doing math and how he had to move certain prices here and there which did not make sense to me. Yes, he got the monthly payments I wanted but he added like 6000 on the car. I had him explain things over and over again. I eventually said no I didn't want it and the finance guy looked at me and basically said are you sure because all these things can happen to you. On top of that he kept on leaving his desk to do I don't know what. I ended up leaving at 9 at night. I didn't get to eat dinner because I was there. I wish they would have just taken a no instead of changing the price on me and making me pay more than what I asked for. I spent 6 hours in the dealership, had my credit hit twice, and I still over paid way over sticker price with a trade in and good amount down. Not cool! You hear this happening all the time because this is what dealerships do. I got owned. Next time I will not buy a car without my husband with me to keep from being taken advantage of.
