Visited between Christmas and New Year. Beautiful hotel and grounds, perfect for relaxing. Our booking included bed, breakfast and evening meal plus access to the spa. Our room was a courtyard room, it was clean and well presented if a little tired, although the bedding was of high quality. The radiator in our room was very noisy, but the heating was turned off at night so didn t keep us awake.
Staff here are really attentive, they made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
The spa facilities are very good, the pool area overlooks the gardens, we loved the steam room in particular. The spa is open early in the morning so we visited twice, once in the evening and once in the morning.
Our evening meal was from a set menu so was limited, but the food was really nice, well presented and using the best quality ingredients. Breakfast wasn t as nice, the food was cold and there was no choice of eggs.
The grounds are extensive and beautiful to walk around. Views across the Thames and the Chilterns are lovely. A great place to unwind.
All in all we enjoyed our stay, have wanted to visit for a long time, although we probably wouldn t return.
