Desert Academy is a truly lacking school. The Administration is out of control as they treat the school as if they are the babysitters for over 100 students. They target specific students in an attempt to discourage them from re-enrolling in the school, rather than helping the student overcome challenges they may face in education. The majority of the staff (excluding teachers) treat their profession as a way to interact with colleagues, disregarding students. And the recent hype surrounding the new head of school is completely over-saturated and stems from the fact that he is better than the last head of school in such a small degree, it is incalculable. A recent policy chosen by the administration (with a heavy focus on the bathrooms the last 4 semesters) is that students must sign out everytime they use the restroom during class with the time they leave, and the time they return. The estimated times will be sent to the parents of the student at the end of this current semester. The amount of students at Desert Academy has substantially decrease between the 2017-18 and the 2018-19 school year. The administration emphasizing that as a positive, because smaller classes improve the learning environment.
All in All, the teachers are mediocre (especially in Middle School) and the administration seems completely out of touch with the community and treats a high tuition private school as a complete joke. I will reemphasize the point that the administration also spends countless hours trying to get specific students in trouble, without any proof of wrongdoing whatsoever. The amount of turnover with teachers is also abysmally high. Personally, I would be surprised if the current 6th grade students will make it to graduation, or if the school will run out of money and close before that happens.

Desert Academy is not a good school, if you are a parent looking to give your child a higher education, do not consider Desert Academy.
