Loved this place. Great to see it up and running again. They very done a great job all around. The food was great and very well priced. Very dog friendly. My only advise would be try and squeeze a few more tables outside where possible to meet the demand.

the packhorse has become one of my new favourite pubs in the area, Great beer, very good food, sympathetically restored pub, friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere and on a sunny day a beautiful garden to sit in. what more can you ask for?

Great atmosphere, wonderful old building, interesting choice of food, ours was rich but delicious. Good Bath ales, staff young and wanting to please. It's a community pub and reaches out in that way, with style and buzz as well.

The pub itself looks lovely from the outside but has spartan and simple decor inside. The food is not terribly good and the chairs are uncomfortable. The main negative is the effect it has had on the local village. The pub only has 5 parking spaces, yet because it is somewhat isolated (the nearest b...

Friendly host and friendly service. Ambience is fantastic. Very old walls and a wonderful outdoor dining area. The dishes are of a very high standard. The best meal we had on the island in two weeks. Top and fully recommended.

Just dropped in for a drink and some chips in the outside seating area after a walk. Friendly and helpful staff with a good covid set up. They didn't forget about us outside and checked if we wanted another round and the service was quick. The garden area is nice too.

Very, very disappointed.

Very, very disappointed.

First of all, I was rudely spoken to on the phone when I asked if my pre-booked table could be changed time slot due to a hectic evening. The gentleman I spoke to was very blunt and groaned when I asked to change. We then arrived but the evening went very much down hill e...

Not impressed with the service from the manager, turned away on a hot day at the mid way through a family walk with two young kids (who were both upset) because apparently they were full... the family before us were offered seats inside or in the garden, doesn t add up does it. It is not the first t...

Cannot fault the food, we went on a Sunday so of course had to have Sunday roasts with a side of cauliflower cheese. They do several different options for meats and you will be glad to know the roast potatoes are crispy. We were seated and severed very quickly and the food was just as fast. I would ...

I stopped here for a pint coming home from work. Thank goodness the pub has opened again and it's been done in a very sympathetic way. Great selection of beer, food is also available, cards are accepted and there's wonderful views from the garden. Be sure to visit!

This is the local you've been looking for, even if you're not local. It was saved by the community and boy does that come through in the generally feeling of the place. Warm welcome on cold and fine weather days, and a chance to sample Honey's Midford Cider, made literally down the road.

I had read a lot of good press about this community pub, rescued by the locals after it was shut. Would it live up to the hype? Well, the resounding answer to this was yes! We turned up on a Saturday lunchtime without a booking and despite it being busy were squeezed in in the upstairs dining area...

Lovely pub, just went for a hot chocolate on a winter afternoon. Staff were friendly, pub was warm and welcoming and loos were clean and done up nicely (very important in my opinion). Sadly not disabled friendly as it's an old country pub with lots of steps as far as I could see, but didn't put it t...

A really nice traditional pub/restaurant, they've done an amazing job on it. This pub has just reopened after being closed for six years. The community have bought it and raised a huge amount of money. The good news is that it had been restored brilliantly but more importantly it retains all the features that made it a lovely village pub. It has also great food.

Quite simply, a real gem of a pub. One of the best. Great beer and cider (local Honey's cider is always a hit!), wonderful menu, super friendly staff in a picturesque setting. All with a great story to tell about how it came to be rescued. Well worth a visit!
