Went for trivia night, when we got there we found out they quit that. So just ordered and app and some drinks. During that time 3 other groups came in for the same thing but left as soon as they found out no trivia. Waiter said something and I told then "if you all quit that maybe you should post on...
My second time here. Both times started off really good. The first time the waiter was non responsive. Allowed our food to sit and get cold. The food had been ready but he was just too lazy to do anything. The second time i ordered an omelette with fruit instead of hash and sides of bacon and avoca...
Food was bland and cold. I had the steak and eggs. There were 4 in my group and it took 40 minutes to get our food. 3 of the 4 of us gor our food while 10 minutes later the 4th person got his food. Service sucked as well. Slow and not friendly. It's unfortunate because I really wanted to like this ...
Disappointment. Do yourself a favor and read the other comments. I just glanced at the one "$" and saw a review from outside of Google saying they had the best hamburgers in town. Far. From. That. Maybe before the new management that has been previously said by other Googleites. Overpriced. Seems th...
Lowbrow has had a menu makeover with change in management. The atmosphere is more uppity and the menu is much shorter and much more expensive. The service was fine, nothing bad to say about that. I would suggest a name change to keep confusion away. I had the rigatoni bolognese and it tasted like th...
Their chicken strips are delicious! We got one order with fries and one worth mashed potatoes. I personally prefer the mashed potatoes, but my husband and kids liked the fries. It's a laid back atmosphere and the kids loved playing with the old typewriter on our table. We will definitely be back!
Great location & the ambiance/decor is very Houston. Service for us was fine; we didn't feel rushed, which was great. The mild version of the spaghetti squash was way too spicy for me (I am admittedly a sissy when it comes to spicy food), but the catfish & brussels sprouts were both delicious. To th...
Chef Will Gilchriest makes delicious food and also seems to wear a lot of different hats, but all with a great attitude. The food is always amazing and priced competitively.
Just to preface- I'm reviewing this based on the brunch only. I haven't gone for lunch or dinner.
Anyways, the brunch is great. They have cheap carafes of mimosas (which instantly is a win in my book) and excellent food. My personal favorite is the eggs benedict, which comes on a biscuit inste...
Really great patio, set in a calm neighborhood by the menil collection, the appetizers and burgers are very good, a little pricey so it's more of an evening special event place, plenty of parking nearby
This place is nice and not too crowded in a little neighborhood. The atmosphere is nice and the waiters are nice as well. We only went to get drinks on a Sunday, but the speed of the service was lacking a little with menus taking longer than expected
Casual brunch spot that does not take advance reservations or large parties. I got a chicken spicy biscuit with a potato hash. It was good, but the service took too long to get menus and too long to wait. Also have to consider we went on peak brunch hour at 11-12. Sat in ...
I've determined that there are two types of great burger places in Houston. There are those establishments that specialize in great burgers, and those who offer a great burger on their menu. Lowbrow falls into the latter category. And, with the lineage of the Eatsie Boys bunch, the expectations h...
Quirky atmosphere with really good food. They play movies on their projector every once in a while. They started playing 10 hours of Nyan cat one time. Thankfully the sound was off.
The food is okay, but it's all about the vibe here. When it's nice outside, it's so much fun to sit outdoors and have a drink and a meal. The burger is good and so is the grilled cheese egg in a hole. If you're walking around the museum district, it's a nice place to stop for a bite.
This place does not serve brunch all day like it says it does, very few options as what to eat, terribly slow service. Went for a friend's birthday celebration and Jessica, our waitress, did a horrible job attending us. I ordered the steak, and after waiting 30 minutes, she sends another waitress to...
I had the salmon plate and a frozen mojito, both of which I was talking Into by my excellent server. I don't think I came up for air until it was gone. What an excellent entree and drink! I highly recommend checking this place out.
The mimosas are good but the service was kinda slow. There were only a few tables so it's not like it was busy at all. Came in on a Sunday afternoon and the TVs outside were on infomercials. Surely there was something better on...Like football perhaps?
This was literally the worst service I've had in such a long time. I came here last night for my birthday celebration. The food was horrible, the service was mediocre, and the waiter was rude. The vibe of LowBrow is cool- but the overall experience is not worth it.
Cool place inside when its not packed full of people. The burgers are good and beer is cold. The patio is nice to hang out on and people watch when the weather cooperates.
You know that commercial you see with the amazing pictures of amazing food and you get there and it's horrible.. That pic was from here. Absolutely amazing
Stopped by this place for Saturday brunch. The mimosas are a tad bit more than average but was decent. The space inside is great and offers spacious booths for friends. I ordered off their brunch menu and had the chicken and waffles. The waffle came in a fantastic Texas shape. One of the best waffle...
I gathered some of my girls to check this place out, they have some good beer selections, and the burger wasn't bad either. Its a small place but its perfect if you're looking for a small relaxing spot. Oh also on mondays they have a pizza and beer pitcher deal for only $20!!
We met our family there for brunch around 11am. Parking is hard to find, but they offer valet. Service was a bit slow and spotty. Had to continually ask for coffee refills. They had a DJ for the brunch crowd which made it virtually impossible to have a conversation without shouting. A DJ for brunch?...
New management changed everything great about lowbrow.
Used to be my favorite place in town with a great menu and awesome atmosphere, now a fine dining experience. Really needs a name change to avoid confusion about the place.
I've been here twice and both times the service has been terrible. We received our food one hour after we ordered. The biscuits were cold and hard, the fried chicken was overly breaded. I'm so disappointed. The Lazy Daisy drink was pretty delicious.
Discovered this place years ago, and it remained my favorite place for a phenomenal, black bean burger. Went there recently and everything has changed! So if you're into the Heights/ Montrose type joint, this is no loner for you . It now has a Uptown/River Oaks feel. Yuck. They always suck the li...
Lowbrow is a great place to drink a beer, especially on the patio, especially especially since they always have several Houston brews on tap. I have also had the chicken fried black bean burger (genius idea) and the kale Caesar salad both were delicious. Minus one star (it would be minus 1.5 if I ...
Sooo good, I really like their chicken biscuit and grilled cheese that they have for brunch. Also the pozole is the best! Dunking grilled cheese in that is next level amazing. I haven't gone here outside of brunch though, but it doesn't get busy until maybe noon so you can find a place to sit easily...
Was a beautiful day and we sat outside, the service was good but a little slow. The burgers were okay. The parking is tight. I loved the fries and the spicy mayo/ketchup that was suppose to be for the burger I think.
Since when did Low Brow become so High Brow? I miss the Juicy Lucy and reasonable prices. Great if you are looking for something a little more refined, but say goodbye to the divey local watering hole of old.
I have given this place a few tries now and just like every other reviews have mentioned, the service is pretty darn slow. I was recently there for lunch and a bit of day drinking with friends, I got myself a pitcher to share with everyone and somehow they forgot about it until I asked again about 1...
Staff went above and beyond to accommodate a large group. We went on a Sunday for brunch, the food was fun and tasty. They had a Dj playing just the right music at the right volume. Really hip spot
Lowbrow has been a go to spot for me for the last few years until recently. The menu has been upgraded along with the cost. Some of the best menu items have been removed including the yummy Juicy Lucy. Last time we went the new management were in the process of changing the decor and the menu. A...
Okay, so I never leave reviews online but my experience at Lowbrow was horrible enough to compel me to do so. Dan was our server and I don't remember ever being waited on by someone as condescending or slow as he was. At the end of our meal, I asked if it was possible to get separate checks, knowing...
Definitely is taking a turn for the worse since it's inception. Apparently they are trying to "revamp" the place by making the menu more expensive and the vibe less unique. The food wasn't as good the last time we went, and the wait staff were having to scramble to keep up with the bumbling kitchen ...
