Well worth the time and money to see! Rated a Gem by AAA, for good reasons. Attractive buildings and furnishings from the colonial and early American period, plenty of parking, great old trees changing into fall colors, well trained, helpful docents and guides at different homes and stations. We enj...
If you're a history buff or teaching your children, this is a must visit place. The area is rich with the history of early settlers and their encounters with the Native Americans. An interesting read before your visit is "The Boy Captive of Old Deerfield" by Mary P. Smith which will make your visit...
Spent half a day visiting historic homes. Some homes had a tour guide; others were self-guided. Guides were very knowledgeable. Do need more time to visit - at least one whole day.
We loved the attention to detail in preservation and the guides were very knowledgeable. It's a great slice of early American history. My favorite is the amazing collection of French and Indian War Powderhorns.
Beautiful and mind blowing historical gem. The docents who give tours are very knowledgeable and generous with their time when the village is not busy. Even just an hour or two are enough to get new insights on history.
Deerfield is one of my favourite places to visit. I love all of the old historic buildings and the highschool is amazing. everything is so beautiful to just walk around and look at. but if you want more of an experience then i highly recommend doing the house tours. they are so fun and interesting t...
This is a amazing place. Come earlier in the day so you can have plenty of time at each place. All the people are knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend it.
Such a fun and relaxing experience. I didn't know how entertaining it would be for my 3 and 7 years old but absolutely loved it! Exploring the houses and meeting the tour guides kept their focus.
I wouldn t go out of my way to visit this cute historic village but it definitely was a good place to get out, stretch our legs, and disappear into the middle of nowhere. We came off season so there were very few people around. There s a large school upon entering the town that my family and I enjoy...
Fun, educational walking history area. Some self guided houses, some guided tours. Children's activities available. Multiple centuries represented. Primarily focuses on colonial history, with some mentions of indigenous peoples.
It was a beautiful day so walking to the different locations was very pleasant. We wish had the time to do more of the guided tours. There was some very interesting things to see.
First went on the tour here back in Holy Trinity School about 50 years ago! It was awesome then and the History was indelible! You owe it to yourself to check Old Deerfield out!
This was very disappointing. Your paying to get 35 minute guided tours. They go every hour, except at lunch time. Was interesting, but really not worth the money. The 4 houses with guided tours are at either end of the street from the visitors center. Not noted that 2 houses to the north are 10 minu...
Website/Facebook shows innaccurate info right now. They are not open. It is still beautiful and a nice walk but you cant go in any buildings. The gift shop is open to relieve you of your money lol..there is a restaraunt on site and that was open and seemed busy. We will def take a trip when we are d...
Our 4th visit from the UK to this historic street and still love it. Visited the Museum for the first time today and it is recommended that you don't just pass this attraction by. Its a wonderful collection of American history. Free to enter but donations welcome.
Tghis is a gorgeous place for a lot of fun items and very. Upscale items as well and the couple that was there was very friendly especially. Mark the cashier please go
Beautiful depiction of historical New England. Amazing that the community fits into this beautiful village. The guided tours through some of these homes add so much interesting information to these beautiful homes. Plan to spend the day to see everything.
If you like history a must place to visit. The guides that lead tours in some of the homes give family history. As well as history of many items in the home. Time well spent and very enjoyable.
Really wonderful place. Beautiful houses in a charming old New England town. Best visited in the fall. House guides are really knowledgeable. Also take time to explore the area it's a beautiful part of Massachusetts.
Excellent place to take the family. The staff are knowledgeable and will answer questions. The family center, with it's games and projects, was a huge hit with our boys. Be prepared to walk and climb stairs. Also consider that not all houses are handicapped or stroller accessible.
My husband and I did the tour of the old houses recently. We both loved it. So much history here. The guides were all very nice and full of knowledge. Yes, there is walking involved but I tried to feel what it was like years ago. It is so worth it.
This place was charming! The tours were kept short and make me want to return. It still has its original charm because these houses are beautifully maintained.
Historic Old Deerfield, in/near/at Deerfield, MA is a MUST SEE for any early American history buff or early American colonial architecture enthusiast. One of New England's many gems.
This is a really neat place. A mix of public and private homes as well as two private schools and an Inn preserve this slice of old New England. There is a working farm as well as guided tours of the beautiful old homes. If you want to see what an old New England town looked like back in the day,...
If you enjoy historic houses, you will love this place. Some houses have guided tours, and the guides are quite knowledgeable. Others are self-guided with a docent near the entrance. There is a nice gift shop opposite the Visitors Center. I only had a few hours to spend and therefore didn't get to s...
