My son undoubtedly is enjoying Michigan and receiving a good education. However, if you are not a Michigan resident and won't get financial aid, the school is virtually as expensive as almost all private colleges. And every year, the tuition for out-of-state students goes up, both as a percentage and obviously in actual dollar cost, dramatically more than for in-state students. So, if you are in-state or if you are out-of-state and get financial aid, yes, this is a "best value" university. If neither applies to you, it absolutely is not, and I suggest you not pay any attention to the various statements you will see about "average cost" and the like. It's irrelevant to you.
