Great shows, good sushi, slow service (but it was just before a show, they were packed)
It's a quiet, mostly classy place to dine and catch a show. The staff is on point the greater majority of the time, but hey, we're all human and have an off moment every now and then. The food is incredible but slighty pricy. Expect to spend on average about $40 per person if you go light and closer $85-$100 if you plan on having a couple drinks, salad and entree. For example, my steak was $49 and YES I'd order it again as I have done in the past. We were there to see Estalle and she PUT ON ONE HECK OF A SHOW!!! The musical performance area is fairly tight sitting, but I've never seen any issues as everyone there is just there to enjoy whichever artist they bought their ticket to see. It is small enough that there are no bad seats and if it were a bigger venue the seats would be VIP as far as distance to the artist. Keep in mind the music and dining are two separate events. You buy the tickets for the show online (at least we do). We do dinner because of priority seating for the show when you have dinner reservations. Get on their email list to know who's coming and when.
Awesome place to go for jazz music! Japanese restaurant.
Good food should coincide with good service...definitely different when ordering food inside the show venue. Chaos...!! not enough wait staff to adequately service customers ..those that were present did their best with what they had. Congratulations to them... Management needs a refresher course on Service
Love Yoshi's. Great food, drinks. The BEST place to see a show! Small venue, personal. It's like being friends of the band.
Excellent place Love EVERYTHING about it.Perfect place to see any concert
Erick Roberson was amazing! Yoshi's beautiful venue made for a wonderful show.
Dinner and show, show was great 2nd show there going next month to see musiq
VICTOR WOOTEN with Dennis Chambers and Bob Franceschini put on the most memorable show last night. Still groovin from the sounds Live music is real. Catch it!
the sushi was excellent although a bit variable. really enjoyed the edamame with different preparations.
I go walk here 5 days a Week for an hour a day.. Listening to my Christian music.. Praising The Lord..
Enjoyed my visit. We went for dinner and to hear Eric Benet sing. The staff was friendly. Just a word of advice about the concert venue, try not to get a booth. We were to the left of the singer. Where I sat in the booth, I had to turn my neck to watch the singer. It was my birthday. They gave me Creme Brulee. It was yummy.
Great venue for seeing acts close up. Food is ok, drinks are good.
Great venue for concerts, delicious food and drinks at an affordable price.
I love this place!!! Good food and the absolute best music by far in the bay area
The restaurant serves Japanese cuisine, which was very good. Inside of the restaurant is a separate section that has more of an intimate club atmosphere where one can relax and listen to, and experience, live stage bands & vocalist, etc.
Great venue for intimate shows, but there were too many people a one small, round table (4 people).
A great intimate venue for dinner and concert. I love the set!
Great sound studio to enjoy the best Jazz music in the planet.
i still like the old menu better and the service is still not very good but a great run jazz club.
Frankly, it's a bit overpriced. They sort of have you trapped if you want to have dinner before a show. But that said, it is convenient, in the food is well, not bad.
Quality of service and food have declined. Too bad.
Such a fantastic restaurant with so many choices beyond the sushi menu.
Great food and great show. Saw Angie Stone! Amazing artist and venue.
Fantastic Japanese cuisine and intimate jazz house!
California roll with salmon baked is really fresh and tasty!
Awesome, acoustics, Okay to pretty good service. and a great atmosphere.
Great place to see a show! Very intimate and if you eat dinner there before the show, you can pick where you want to sit. Food is excellent as well. (Pictured is Goapele)
My husband and I have been going to Yoshis for a few years now for dinner and to hear our favorite artists but last night was the best we saw the Styilistics and had dinner and everything was perfect we can't wait for our next favorite artist to appear . We highly recommend Yoshis for great food and entertainment and excellent service!!
I have coordinated a wedding at Yoshi's Oakland. This is such a lovely place to have your dream wedding here. The atmosphere was so romantic and intimate, and the food and catering service were outstanding. All of our guests enjoyed the wedding here!! I would highly recommend it to our new couples.
I visited to see Tony Toni Tone, the menu looked promising, but our waitress was lacking, I was put off right away, I let her know I loved sashimi, but I was particular and liked it a certain way, I asked how it was served, she said raw, I said, yes but how is it presented, she said in a condescending way, "sashimi means raw fish and she was talking slower now like I didn't know what I was ordering, I had to ask two more time in two different ways to get the response I wanted, and she agreed to my thin sliced sashimi, it came quick, but when it came it came an inch thick and two inches long, my husband's order came 10 mins later and we had to wait 20 mins for her to return, and I asked if maybe the chef could slice it thinner for me to which she chuckled and told me " uh no, but I can bring you a knife " I said she could take it back then cause i cant eat such a thick cut, and pointed to the dark skin layer still on the cut,( which shouldnt be there on tuna) and she said in a protesting manner it's part of the fish, well I know all of this but I also know it's not supposed to be on my sashimi cut. Done!
Great food and great Latin jazz, Pete Escovedo Orchestra was fantastic
If you come here for the ambiance then it's great. If you're looking for delicious sushi, then be prepared for very overpriced sushi rolls that are just ok.
Great service for our group of seven. Beware of fast prep... Sent to kitchens real-time, so don't change your mind a moment after!
This was my first time to Superstar. Everyone in the group loves this place. They ordered for the table and it was all good. The stand out dish was a crunchy salad to start that was sensational. Service was very, very good. I'm looking forward to the next visit.
Excellent sushi, lovely atmosphere, and you get to watch the train drive by!
This is a huge landmark and one of my favorite places to go in Oakland. I don't know what I would do if they closed this place down. It's the go to for all my entertainment desires. This is a very classy nice place and where some of the best performs go in the World!
Very loud. Very expensive. Tables too close together. Bus waiters snatch your plate without asking before dish is empty and stack dirty plates in your face, ask you to hand them stuff across other guests, and don't keep water refilled. Beet salad tasty $11. Classic Sashimi fresh $20. Vegetable tempura $13. Shrimp $ scallops fritter (mostly onion) $16. Beef skewers appetizer delicious 5 for $16.
Nice venue for shows, bartenders are heavy pourers, just gets crowded quickly, so get there early.
Always one of my favorite venues! Great talent, intimate space, and fantastic sushi: what else is there?
Great venue - if you want to reserve seats for sold out shows it is best to plan to have dinner here before the show.
Food was good from salad fries to Kobe beef skewers, every seat is a good seat.
Nice, intimate venue for performances, but it can be crowded up close to the stage. Upscale Japanese Restaurant at the venue. Food is good, but prices are slightly high. They have a decent appetizer menu and serve both appetizers and beverages/libations in the theater. I've never had an issue with food, service, or performances at this location. I like this place.
Oakland staple! Live music with nice ambience. Great place. Drinks are over priced. Food is good.
Great space for entertainers. Service is good and its smaller so it feels more intimate. I always enjoy Yoshis. And always plenty of parking at the garage next door.
The food and services is great. I have been to restaurants (Claim Jumper)that don't have the level of service as Yoshi's.
Had a delicious leisurely dinner followed by outstanding concert of old time jazz-blues. Reconnected with friends Meredith Axelrod ( awesome vocals) & Suzy Thompson (spectacular fiddle).
A must go for the jazz theater. All the same food and drinks, but with many well known jazz bands coming through.
Very nice experience. Great food followed by live music
Very expressive. Really great music Hall, I just wish they catered more to the community they are surrounded by and do nights with cheaper food and drinks
Yoshi's was it's usual - - great food & service. Hiroshima was another story. Very disappointed. Will be our last show of many with them.
For food - I give this place 5+ stars. - For cocktails and entertainment - I give this place infinity stars
Food was great! Entertainment awesome! Server was impeccably attentive and the manager fixed the bill when we had a problem! Professionalism at its finest!
Great show sound quality was on point. Performance was outatanding. Service was very timely.
Continues to be one of my longtime favorite venues for good and appetizers!
Great place to eat and catch a show. Lee Ritenour's show was incomparable! The Bassist truly held the groove and it was a treat to see Dave Grusin tickle the ivories as well.
Good Venue but their policy for tickets is completely unreasonable. No refund or exchange. SO if you purchase tickets in advance make sure you go otherwise you just lose money
Good food, good service but not much space between tables. The noise level was too high for intimate conversation.
