Great place to take your kid(s). Lots of different trails to walk on. Even during the winter there are fun things to observe and find. Paths are not paved so they can be muddy after rainfall or the snow melting, but a beautiful wildlife reserve in an urban area.

Absolutely fantastic! The creative building area is a blast for kids. There are a bunch of branches and limbs for the kids to build with, plus delightful mature trees and plenty of room for the imagination. It is perfect for a broad range of ages. The trails are gorgeous and the boardwalk across the lake is a delight.

Wood Lake has over 2 miles of hiking / ski trails and is bisected by a floaty boardwalk. Walking under the tall trees and across the lake it s easy to forget this 150 acre nature preserve is in a metropolitan area (the Twin Cities). I give it 4 stars instead of 5 only because a short stretch of the west side, along Interstate 35W, though well hidden by trees and a wall, is rather loud with car sounds. This is a minor quibble, however; the park is wonderful.

Quiet nature walk. Got see up close ducks and geese w their babies ;beavers? In the stream.marsh had lots to see . Paths are well maintained with lots of shaded areas and benches. Easy walk. Found in community book library interesting donated books.

Very beautiful park with ample parking. The trails are very well connected and loop into each other. It's a really good place for birding. You can either stay on the paved trail or veer off into the softer trails. during the visit today, parts of the trail were blocked off due to flooding. The lakes in the middle are marvelous with a lot of wildlife. There is also a nice kids play area as well with big branches for the kids to make forts.

One of the best hidden gems to take your kids to for an out door in town adventure! My family loves to take the hike around the lake and explore the paths. The nature center building has some awesome information about what you could see in the park and its a great place to warm up and use the facilities on a cold day.

Went for a winter walk and it was really nice. Very level, seems easily accessible. Lots of wind if it's a windy day. Nice sanctuary in the city (still plenty of road and plane noise, so not totally isolated if you're looking for that). Saw a bald eagle, robins, and crows. A lot of the trails are set aside for cc skiing only.
