It is an amazing thing to have something so beautiful and accessible so close to home. The artwork, sculptures, photographs, architecture, gardens, desert landscapes, furniture, etc., are beautiful beyond words. The fact that you can come in for the price of parking($20) or free if you Uber, that's icing on the cake. You can bring food for a picnic and have a nice time on the lawn overlooking the garden/stream. This is a not-so-hidden gem of L.A.

So much art, definitely go here if you can. Also take a guild book as it will help you understand the objects better. Everything is organized and the way they use light to preserve thir paintings is brilliant.

It is beautiful! You only have to pay the parking. There is a tram to bring people from the parking to the exhibition buildings. Tons of paintings and drawings, ... to see. And you need more than one day to see everything.

We visited with no expectations at the recommendation of a local during our trip to Santa Monica and were so happy we did. The Getty is one of the most beautiful places I've been with so much to explore in terms of the landscaping, architecture, and visual art collections. I wish more places like the Getty existed around the country.

Best museum that I have ever been! It is always clean and has classic modern look at the same time! Great place to take your family and friends. They offer free ride from parking lot to museum. I really wanted to do my wedding here but they don't allow weddings here. I heard they might take receptions though :)

Totally awesome place. Super clean and they have some amazing paintings and artifacts. Fun for family and friends. Can be very busy so be prepared to wait in a line when you arrive. Parking can take a while as well. But definitely recommend this place. Super cool.

The Getty Center was on our bucket list. We were not savvy and had our navigation direct us to the "Getty museum" -- don't do that as we ended up at the service entrance. Navigate to the Getty Center. The transportation from the parking garage via tram is very well organized. We visited on a Wednesday and the museum was not crowded. We started with the orientation video in the Entrance Hall. We wandered through the gardens, had lunch, and most notably had time to leisurely peruse masterpieces by Van Gogh, Manet, Renoir, Rembrandt, Renoir, and Monet.

The Getty Villa gets my five stars cause the staff made all the difference Both places have beautiful art and grounds but the caffe at the museum had poor quality food and the servers were rude overworked and did not match the grandeur of the place I ordered the veggie wrap when I complained to the server that it was hard as cardboard she said condescendingly that cause its vegan I am from San Francisco and I know what vegan is
Again I vote for the villa over the museum anyday

Nice museum to visit.

Nice museum to visit.
Also, free of charge.
Keep in mind that if you're gonna park there, it's paid parking.

This is a well designed and thought museum. The guides are very friendly and helpful and the exhibits very well presented. One day is not enough to experience everything. You should plan multiple visits where a whole day is allocated perhaps to seeing one or two sections.
Plan to have lunch and spend some time at the coffee shop looking at the views.

In addition to the wonderful exhibit I saw, Icons of Style: A Century of Fashion Photography, 1911-2011 I saw in the West Pavilion, Center for Photographs, I also toured the gardens, was inspired by a lot of well-dressed people, and went on an informative 15-minute talk Exhibition Spotlight Tour: Icons of Style .

Breathtaking venue with mesmerizing style. The outside feels like a futuristic pedestrian downtown. Strong variety of art in all the exhibits constantly changing between different exhibits.

Came here for the 1st time amd loved it. I didn't check out the permanent collection because I didn't have time. But I spent two and a half hours intheir book of beasts exhibition. It was so fun to hear about how they came up with some of these creatures that I felt like I was Swept Away into a fairy tale. It was magical and I loved my experience

This place is good for family visits. I enjoyed it. Lot of awesome artifacts and really old ones. they have a good collection. The Villa is build superbly all in Greek style.

I will say if you have some idea about Greek Mythology then you will appreciate this museum more. Fortunately I had some interest and background on that, so Enjoyed it more. You will be able to spend some decent amount of time here. Unfortunately the pool did not have any water because of the drought conditions in California.

Frankly speaking I have seen great museums in my life and I found this of decent and not too great but sure will recommend visiting at least ones. There is a good cafeteria inside and the parking cost is just 10-15$

The gardens and art galleries at The Getty are amazing. It's even more incredible that it's free (just pay for parking). On top of all that are great views of the surrounding area. Definitely give it a visit.

If you enjoy and appreciate art then this is a definite stop in LA. It's a very beautiful place. The architecture, the art pieces, the garden... It's all very picturesque. Perfect also for those who enjoy photography. We went here on a Saturday and there were a decent amount of people. Of course the room that attracted a crowd is the one with the Van Gogh. I must say, it was a show-stopper. A very beautiful piece. It's also in the same room as Monet. So yeah, it's a very crowded room. There are audio tours and maps when you enter the first building so you won't get lost and the art pieces will be easier to locate.

So many beautiful exhibits! Great afternoon with the family. Had lunch at the cafe. I was able to get a burger with no bun and some sauteed brussel sprouts on the side. So Keto friendly options are there.

Lot of lot of lot of masterpieces to see. Half a day wasn t enough. Definitely need a whole day to explore the entire museum complex. Last but not least I particularly liked the free iPod touch rental which guides you through the museum.

We visited the Getty museum on a Sunday, and realized quickly that one day is not enough to see the whole place. Amazing artwork, beautiful buildings, beautiful gardens and very good set up with guided and self guided tours! They even offer a really nice plain-air sketching class! This place is amazing and best of all, FREE! I would visit again and I would recommend going more than once just to be able to see everything! Go early, and bring your own food, because the restaurant is pricey, and bring it to the coat check room, so you don't have to get back to the parking lot to retrieve the food you brought and be stuck in the very long lines to get back up to the museum at lunch time. One more detail, that shows their attention to the patrons needs: by the coat check room there is a tiny lockers area where one can recharge the phone. Charging cords, digital locks and glass doors so you can leave the phone to charge while you look around the exhibits... I was amazed! We need more of that personal touch in the world!

One of the best museums I've ever been to. The landscaping. The architecture. The art work are all world class. This is a real gem and a trip to Los Angeles would be a shame if your trip didn't include a stop here. And you only have to pay for parking. I hope I'll be back!

We brought our sister to the museum on October 23rd. She is ill and unable to walk any distance. We were able to take the wheelchair waiting at the tram to the car and than wheel her onto the tram without difficulty. We were so pleased with the kind attention and alertness to our needs of all the staff as we found our way to elevators, had doors opened, and received big smiles as people assisted us. We were reassured that the tour she wanted to take was on one level and presented no problems. The day was very special for us as she may not be able to have another outing of this type again. What a gift you gave us! Please commend everyone there for their professional and courteous attention.

Fantastic place that is almost as beautiful itself architecturally as compared with the art it houses inside. Some of the views are quite literally billion dollar views!! HIGHLY recommended!!

Great museum with lots of special exhibits and regular guided tours. Admission is free, so the only cost is parking ($15 at time of writing). In addition to the art, the architecture and landscaping at the museum are simply amazing.

An amazing museum! It features classical Greco-Roman art, European art from the 1600-1800s, and an exhibit featuring photography and early print. Also shown is an exhibition centre with constantly changing artwork. And of course, there is the famed garden. Staff is friendly and restaurants there have good food. The museum, if you didn't know, is also free! A treasure to visit if you are takimg a professional tour(as I did) or just casually looking around.
