Used to really like this place. Quality used to be off the charts. All their prepared foods right now are super salty. Don't mind paying for high quality seafood, but if the food is unpalatable, that is like throwing money away. Very sad to leave this review, as I have frequented this establishment for almost 30 years off and on, but don't want to mislead anyone. Conch salad, for example, used to be great, but now tasteless and had to actually add heat and salt. The conch was very fresh, but very little flavour. Wahoo dip was basically tasteless as well. Ton of cream cheese and I actually had to add salt!!!What a shame. I used to work right next door and was in almost every day for lunch. Their scallops looked lovely, but that's not what I came in for. The only tasty items were the key lime pie and bread. That's really sad! Pity, as if your prepared seafood items were still good, I would have spent several hundred a week at your store. Just because someone doesn't look like they aren't rich doesn't mean they aren't. Again, I only spent $80 in one visit, but you completely lost my future business. You REALLY need to step up your game! After my last experience, I most likely will not be back for a really long time.
:( Sorry, but I needed to leave an honest review. I just wish that I had asked for tasters of your present prepared foods, instead of going by my memories of how good your food used to be and some other "recent customers " comments. Perhaps when I was in last week,, there was someone in charge of prepared foods who loves to add tons of salt and not use any spice whatsoever. If that is the case, I will most definitely not be back. If you have replaced the person that made the prepared foods last week, I will be back. If not, then I won't. If you can afford to lose quality customers, your loss. Chow

Best fresh seafood East Fort Lauderdale! Great variety of fish and excellent prepared side dishes. Offers fresh vegetables and a host of staples to compliment any seafood. Staff is knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.

Too crowded during covid. I am editing this review to respond to the owner. There were more then 10+ people in your store when I was there and no way to be 6 feet apart. It may have been just bad timing on a Friday afternoon. I do believe everyone was wearing a mask as you stated but when you are so close to each other I am still uncomfortable. That being said I will also say that we did buy some Cod while we were there and it was wonderful and fresh

By far and beyond the best fish monger in South Florida. I've lived in the area since 1986, and there's only two places I'd ever buy seafood here, at the Bahia Mar docks or of course at the Fish Peddler.

Best quality seafood. More than friendly staff. Always a pleasure walking into the store.

Love it! Just went there for a pound of mussels and a whole yellow snapped. Life is good.

By far the best shopping experience in South Florida in product, service, and industry knowledge. Would highly recommend anyone looking for the freshest fish or seafood to come check out this hidden secret. Fish Peddler East for the win!

This place was so good!! Unfortunately, I didn't stop to take pictures because we were so hungry. The person behind the counter was very helpful and patient with us out of towners. We got the stone crab, wahoo spread, shrimp lunch boat and a baguette. All was very fresh and tasty. I thought the cost was reasonable. I'm sure it would have been more expensive in a restaurant. I would definitely recommend you try this place if you are nearby.

What everyone else has said here. Prompt service from loving employees, super fresh fish, excellent fried fish, try the grouper, yes, somewhat crowded sometimes, but they always have enough staff on hand to handle it. It is busy because it is the best.

Ive recently started shopping here and have very happy with how fresh the fish is. Even the kids were gobbling this stuff up and commenting on how good it was without knowing I was buying from a new place. I think prices are fair for fresh locally caught fish. While prices are probably more than you would pay for frozen fish in a grocery store, there s definitely a quality difference. In a time crunch I bought frozen fish filets and didn t tell the family ... it didn t go over well.

I ve also been very happy with how knowledgeable the team is with fish and whatever my requested fish prep ... deboned, skinned, descaled, and fileted. Until this shop, I had resigned myself to having to do the prep work at home because other fish places wouldn t fully descale or cut out so much meat in deboning or skinning or whatever.

Best of best in fish and crustaceans, but hefty pricing make this a 4 instead of a 5. Always busy, and pre-orders taken for larger orders or parties, especially on live lobsters of size or any types of crabs. They will skin or fillet any fish irrespective of price paid, add a or lime for free and even pack a bag of ample ice to keep your purchase cold. Try to go in earlier hours, especially on weekends, but even then they staff up the behind the counter folks so there's never a long wait.
Very convenient mid-north Lauderdale location east of Federal on Commercial, in strip center with plentiful parking. They sell accompanying foods and some prepared fresh fish salads and dips, stuffed clams, oysters, crab, and lobsters, some fresh vegetables and fresh or frozen sauces and french bread made locally. They will steam your lobsters, crabs, clams or mussels on order or while you wait. A secret, if you catch some local fish and want a professional fillet job, you can pay them for the service and avoid the cleanup at home. This is Handy for wahoo, which needs to be steaked mid-section And filleted to tail, or larger bull dolphin (Dorado), shark, or tuna, as a hefty catch is a big job especially for cleanup afterwards. It's the best place for fish on Northside of Lauderdale, closest competitor is out west on Sample in Pompano, but they also carry artificially colored species, which Fish Peddler does not.
