As good as it gets. The chef cooks food that is mouth watering with that flare and style that send the taste buds into heaven. Guides are good and very knowledgeable. Rooms large and spacious. Overall an experience that you will never forget.
This is the best reserve. They have various properties to suite any option from honeymoon lodges all the way up to child friendly lodges. Fell inlove with the reserve and will definitely be back soon.

The park itself and the animals are amazing. There is a large quantity and variety of animals and in 3 days we saw everything we could have hoped for and more. Bayethe lodge where we stayed we also very nice and would have got 5 stars except for the bed which was two short single beds pushed together and both mine and my wife's feet hung off the end, and we're not that tall. Other rooms have proper queen or king beds. Everything else about the lodge was first rate and the staff were fantastic. Our guide, Jacques, was awesome and can't recommend him enough.
So, I m driving in South Africa, a dirt road, heavy rains, and our rental gets stuck in the mud. Seems like the middle of nowhere. Then, these two saints named JB & Tenile drive out of their way to pull us out of the mud, the whole ordeal took almost an hour of these kind folks time. Now, mind you, they ask where we re heading and we re heading to a competing game park my only point being that these folks knew they were not getting any business from us yet spent an hour digging us out of the mud! Where do these nice people come from and can I bring them back to the states?

Had the trip of a lifetime - fun, knowledgeable guides, majestic sightings (giraffes necking, cheetah sub adults & lion cubs playing, hippos grazing, etc.), great chefs & accommodations, & more than we could've hoped for. Would definitely return.

Shamwari was an experience of a lifetime - truly fabulous lodge, with excellent food, wonderful care, and an exceptional relaxed ambience. And then there are the game drives - what can one say... spectacular, more than one could ever hope for, and an utter privilege to be so close to the beautiful wild animals that one dreams of for a safari. The team at the lodge cared for us superbly - including catering for a gluten free, vegetarian diet with more imagination than any other place we have ever been. We have been left with fabulous memories, loads of photographs and a longing to get back to Shamwari just as soon as possible.

If i could rate Shamwari 10 stars, i would!! My boyfriend and i spent 3 nights in the Baythe Tents. Our tent was gorgeous, very cozy with the wilderness feel. Reinhart was by far the best Ranger in the reserve! He was able to get us within 5 feet of lions and a cheetah and so much more!!
A great experience seing the lovely wild creatures in there natural inhabitate. Beautiful wild environment.

Not sure where to begin, this is a MUST for anyone visiting South Africa! The reserve is absolutely breathtaking and the staff and rangers are some of the most courteous and friendly people I've encountered. You can tell they have a real passion for customer experience and both passion and knowledge in what they do. I have never been to a 5* hotel where you feel so comfortable and yet so close with nature. I visited with my parents in October and we are already planning a return trip with the rest of the family for 2019 when Long Lee Manor re-opens! I have convinced a work colleague to go in October this year and I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone else!
Having stayed on Shamwari at Eagle Crag for 3 nights we were blown away, the accommodation is 5 star, the food (and there is plenty of it) was excellent, Marley and her staff could not do enough for us but they were not intrusive. However the highlight by far was the game drives. Our Ranger Meno was brilliant and worked so hard to make sure we saw all the animals (which we did by the plenty), his knowledge and understanding of the animals was incredible but he was a very friendly chap and we had a good laugh and relaxed time with him. I REPEAT AGAIN IF YOU HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO SHAMWARI AND STAY DO IT IS INCREDIBLE YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. Thank you Shamwari Justine and Gordon

I've seen so many different animals on the daily Safari's and the guides are super friendly and so knowledgeable.
Probably among the top 5 most incredible things I've ever experienced. It's not the cheapest, in fact it's probably one of the most expensive reserves but my god is it worth it. I'm not going to go Into detail about it's perks but needless to say the "tent" we stayed in (literally a 5* hotel suite basically) the group meals, the 5am excursions into the bush, the unbelievable wildlife it it's natural habitat (not a glorified zoo) If you can afford it I can almost guarantee you won't regret it.

People there are very very nice. Especially Dylan Peter the escort/driver. Thank you very much for his service. Facilities are very good except the wifi interface. Animals are impressive Only the weather was not favorable but we all could not do anything.
What an experience, the Big 5 in 2 days. Skubidu our driver and guide was fantastic not only for the driving but also with our grandchildren. The whole experience was more than anyone could have wished for. From spotting the big 5 to the laughs while out in the wild and back to the lapa and cold beer.

Private reserve with high level hotels. We were at Sarili Lodge and we enjoyed it very much. The reserve is well maintained, although the density of the animals is lower than other reserves.

We had a 4 night stay at the Shamwari Riverdene Lodge this week. Everything about it was simply fantastic. If you are traveling with children under 12, the Riverdene lodge is perfect. What more can you ask for on a safari....malaria free location with a kids club, beautiful accommodations, awesome food, massages while your kids are entertained and excellent animal viewing. My children ages 8 and 10 loved going to the Kids Club the moment we got off our morning game drive. They would stay until we drug them out to go to the afternoon game drive. This equaled relaxing vacation time for mom and dad. The two women who looked after them while at the kids club were incredibly nice. My kids play hard and the attendants helped them safely on the rock climb wall and zip line. They played endless hide and seek, did crafts, joked with them. I tipped them every day because they kept my kids busy and very very happy. Even if you don t have children, the Riverdene location is beautiful and relaxing. The food was exceptional. My son is allergic to gluten and dairy and my father to shellfish, and I don t eat gluten. The staff and chef coulnd t have been more accommodating. The chef made special snacks for my son at every snack time and meal. They had a variety of cold pressed juices available for snacks and meal. Everyone was so nice. Then the animal viewing.....excellent. Every game drive we had something special happen. Kayleigh was our guide and she did a great job. Warm blankets with hot water bottles every morning to keep us warm. Nice touch. We saw everything but a cheetah. Cheetah s are tough. Everything else...exceptional viewing. We even did a bush walk with an exceptional guide who taught us many things about the animals, plants, animal behavior etc. On the walk we heard basically a stampede of hippos going into the water. We waited until our guide thought it was safe and then walked to find the hippos. 13 floating around in the water vocalizing to each other. Simply awesome. Shamwari is a special place. If are traveling with a family..or even without....Shamwari Riverdene is the place to go. Why risk malaria when you can see it all and stay in a beautiful resort with beautiful people.
Great animal sightings, many roads better than other reserves I've been to (except for a few areas).
Shamwari is adventure at a very high level. We had the amazing ranger Timothy. It was a great time. Every single employee is very accommodating and has made our holiday a highlight.
Just great!!! Extremely good service, private atmosphere and nice and competent rangers who fulfill every wish! Besides leopards, we had the opportunity to observe every animal of the Big Five as well as various antelopes, hippos and cheetahs up close. In the evenings the safaris got cold, but even that was provided with blankets and you were welcomed with warm towels after every game drive. Definitely worth the money !!!

Private Game Reserve, 7 lodges. We were in Sarili, excellent. Saw a lot of wild game, especially elephants, rhinos, lions, cheethas and even one Leopard.
Shamwari was the most incredible experience from arriving to departing. The staff were amazing friendly the rooms beautiful luxury. We were lucky enough to have the top Ranger Mino who was just the icing on the cake went above our expectations to show us the most wonderful animals & the magical world of Shamwari

As a family of 6 who love to share life and experiences as we grow together, our visit to Shamwari will stay in our hearts forever. Everything, every and each detail was prepared to make us feel, learn and respect nature at its best. The experience at the Explorer Camp was unique. We've had an amazing adventure, immersed in the wild, no connection with "real world", just connected between us and nature. We've learned and enjoyed so much with our incredible Rangers Leon and Jonathan!! Thanks for so much dedication in every detail! Our advise: It's not only about "spotting the big 5", is about rendering to nature to enjoy the wonders that it offers every single minute. And we do expect our new friends will have new opportunities to share our "Argentinian tradition of mate" so they won't forget about us
