What I value about Schooner Creek is that they do high-quality work and they re trustworthy. When my boat needs some work, I can talk to them about it with confidence that they ll suggest the right thing and then do it right. My main contact is Mark Gray, and he s great to work with and always right on top of things.

Schooner Creek Boat Works exceeded my expectations! I took my Catalina 309 in for bottom paint and some hull repairs. I left the boat at their docks after hours, which was seamless. The estimate was completed in a couple of days. During my contacts with them they were always friendly and professional; suggesting I could stop by anytime to check on the progress of the work. Covid-19 put an end to my potential visits, but because they were an essential service, the work continued. The quality of work was outstanding! My wife and I picked the boat up on Saturday while the business was closed; again seamless. By chance, we met the owner of Schooner Creek Boat Works on the docks, Kevin, while picking up the boat. At the time he was enjoying, I believe his boat. Kevin was very friendly, unassuming and helped us castoff.

I had a terrible experience with this company. I had a bottom paint job done (that went fine) and while the boat was out of the water decided to have the packing gland repacked. They were unfamilar with the Nauticat greased packing gland (they didn't tell me that when they accepted the job) and then (10+ hours on the bill...) still could not get it adjusted to avoid overheating and dripping. I finally had to take the boat from them against their strong objections and teach myself how to do this relatively simple job. They charged me more than $200 after agreeing not to charge for the full number of hours they wasted. The packing gland continued to overheat and leak (way worse than when I brought it in!) so I replaced the flax myself and discovered they had used the wrong size flax. It took me 45 minutes (and the purchase of a couple special wrenches) to do the job myself and it now works perfectly. I am not a marine mechanic! Apparently, neither are they!!! I sent emails requesting a refund and copied the owner (Nancy Rander) but they were ignored. During the month they had my boat, they lost their fabricator to a better job, their customer service rep was fired by their operations manager, who is apparently no longer there. I predict this outfit will go down the tubes soon.

Used Schooner Creek Boat Works as recommended from Sportcraft Marina in Portland where we bought our 2018 C-Dory 23 Venture Sport. I did not realize that there would be such a learning curve to properly dock a boat. I hit the dock at Friday Harbor in the San Juans and also at Newport South Beach Marina in Oregon. As a result, my boat had nasty scratches and a Gel Coat ding on both the Starboard and Port side. This is a new boat and I felt terrible for the damage I caused to my new boat. Joe Wright (Project Manager) at SCBW personally took on this challenge to make my boat look like new again with the many years of Gel Coat repair under his belt. He totally made my boat look like new again. Thank you Joe. We (Colleen and I) could not be more pleased with your fine work. We are very glad to know of your expertise with boat repair and even new boat construction. We will continue to use your services in the future. So far so good. I haven't had anymore bad landings, yet!

These guys are great! Just had them do work on a 2010 Grady-White 330 Express Walk Around. Full anti-foul bottom paint, fiberglass repair to the bow, replaced two Yamaha 350 V/8 engines and they rigged the radar arch. We used this company because of their reputation and because they can do it all in their shop including launching the boat. Speak to Bob and he will get it done!

Schooner Creek has been my go-to professional boatyard for 15 years. My J46 sailboat has been raced and cruised extensively from Canada to Hawaii. Complex systems require really good support, and I can depend on the crew at this yard to know what to do. I trust them.

April 10, 2019 my boat arrived from Oxnard CA. Schooners came out and reviewed it to see if they could launch it. I received a call and told of the holes in the bottom of my boat and they did not have room or able to launch it as it would sink. I went to see it and boy I was sad. Seth and the workers of Schooner Creek Boat Works helped out beyond anyone would ever imagine. It took me two days to be able to find a place for my boats storage so the insurance adjuster can come out and review to make determinations. On the 12th, Schooners picked up my boat with care from the trailer in which its on and placed it on another. This company is awesome.

I had some painting done as well as a few relatively minor repairs. The service was very good, and the company kept in touch with me. Although they were very busy, they finish the work when they said they would, and everything was done expertly. I would definitely use them again . It is a very professional outfit.

After I kept putting off Winterizing my Glastron 175sx discovered my starter was thrashed, so I was unable to start the motor and get things squared away. Called Schooner Creek and Mark was able to fit me and in found out it a larger issue then just the starter, but Mark and his team were able to get everything going again. Thanks Again!

Seth and his team at Schooner Creek saved our engineer dive team last week when our motor failed during an underwater inspection. They took us in last minute, did a rapid turnaround, and had fair pricing. Best of all Seth texted us the next day making sure we were good to go, just as our temp gauge failed. I was able to call them up and Seth advised me on parts, then we were back in the water to finish the job up a few hours later. I did not receive this kind of care with other repair shops in the area. I highly recommend Schooner Creek, and we will continue to use them for our Columbia River work.

I purchased a new to me 1989 Carver Santego in Utah and had it shipped to Schooner Creek to reassembly and launch. Seth and team were fantastic to work with. They worked with me when my transporter was flaky, cancelled and accommodated my last minute change of dates and times for arrival. As I should have probably expected, the boat had some issues that needed to be addressed before I put it in the water. Seth made it very easy for me prioritize the work and get done only what I needed to at the time. I really felt like we were a team, in it together to get my boat in the water successfully. I would absolutely recommend Schooner Creek and plan to use them for my future yard work needs.

My 1963 23 ft. Chris Craft Sea Skiff had been professionally rebuilt in 2002. For the last 6 or 7 years the boat was stored under cover at my business in Portland. I asked Schooner Creek to thoroughly go through the boat to be sure it was in top condition as I plan to sell it. Schooner Creek did a complete survey of the boat and offered me a quotation for the work they suggested be done. The work needed was significantly more than I expected and included stripping the bottom paint to bare wood, fairing the bottom with an epoxy compound and the application of two coats of epoxy bottom paint to the faired bottom. While working on the boat dry rot was discovered in the transom and in a small section of the keel near the transom. The impaired wood was replaced expertly by Schooner Creek Schooner Creek fulfilled my wishes to a tee. I was apprised of costs before any work began and at the completion of the project I can truly state that the boat is absolutely better than new. I would highly recommend Schooner Creek to anyone seeking a quality boat repair facility.

If you are interested in creative problem solving and craftsmanlike work, Schooner Creek is the place. They did two refits of my custom Shannon 60 offshore cutter and did excellent work in all aspects of these projects including rigging, fiberglass design and fabrication, mechanical, electrical and woodwork. When my boat suffered rigging damage in a typhoon in Japan and I was unable to find resources there for repairs, they sent master rigger Butch Bogan there with me to inspect the damage and plan repairs. Later Butch and polymath service manager and rigger Seth Constable returned to Japan with my crew and the necessary parts and tools to effect the repairs and make the boat seaworthy again doing outstanding work. Five stars are an understatement for this yard.

Schooner Creek Boat Works was an awesome experience. This was my first haul out of a new (to me) 1972 34ft boat. I had no idea what to expect (of the yard or the boat condition). Seth Constable was excellent to deal with every step of the way. I know he had 20+ projects going but I always felt like his attention was as if mine was the only one. Every single person I encountered (from mechanic Nick to yard manager Eric to countless others) were top notch, communicative, and always happy to help. The timing was seamless for the surveyor to access the boat and Seth communicated at every step of the process as things were discovered and repaired. I knew I'd pay more than a simple bottom paint job (old boat, unknown condition) but I feel like I got a good value and very high quality job for the things that needed attention. They were aware I was on a budget and helped explain what needed done and what could wait. These guys were excellent to work with. They treated me like I had a brand new million dollar yacht (even though I brought them a 1972 beater). Thank you to Seth and everyone at Schooner Creek for a job well done! I'll be back for my next maintenance (and when I get that million dollar yacht)!

I have been a customer of Schooner Creek Boat Works for 12 years. Over that time they have consistently provided excellent work ranging from minor maintenance (bottom paint) to construction (custom davit system) to major repair (complete drive train replacement including transmission). The management and their craftsman are first rate and can address any marine issue that arises.

Excellent experience all around. Schooner Creek custom built my ocean rowing boat from the ground up, which performed remarkably well during my Pacific crossing. Communication was clear and respectful, the quality of work was beyond expectations, and everyone at the shop was pleasant and great to work with. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I've had zero issues working with this company for over two years, and will always make this my shop of choice!

Buyer beware, I had Scooner Creek recommended to me for repairing the hull rock dings an scratches on my day cruiser. I took it there an was quoted 3500 to 4500 approx. I turned it over to my insurance company an they approved proceeding with work. By the time this con company had supposedly finished 8000.00 later an multiple revisions to repair additional scratches not found on original estimate an inspection, I was done EVER using this company again. In addition after the insurance adjuster I had dealt with had to deal with these use car salesmen also they sent out a email to the other adjusters in Portland area to steer clients away from Scooner Creek or plan on a expensive bad experience with extremely poor workmanship. I had to take my boat to another boat repair shop to remove all the dirt an scum Scooner Creek obviously didnt clean off to expose 40 plus more scratches they failed to find after I went to pick it up. I have pictures of the way the delivered my supposedly completed boat of all scratches an dings which again was the original reason we took it therefore. It had Columbia River dirt an scum they failed to remove on 3/4 of the bottom of the boat still. How can any shop accurately estimate repair without first cleaning the area to be repaired to expose required work? Bottom line the second shop Northwest boat center was shocked at the condition I received the boat in but jumped in an completely redid all of it INCLUDING cleaning the bottom of boat an repaired over 40 scratches an dings for 2800.00 dollars an it looks like a brand new hull. Buyers beware of positive post they may have been written by employees of Scooner Creek based on my experience. The one star rating I gave them is actually too high of a mark, I have pictures to prove it.

Schooner Creek did an excellent job of preparing our Catalina 28 for shipment. We had just bought the boat and were moving it to California. Schooner Creek was professional, reliable and easy to work with in making the arrangements. The boat was in great shape when it arrived and our local rigger was very impressed with how well they prepared the boat. We would definitely use them again if we could.

I just had my boat hauled out for a bottom job and keel repair (some pretty deep gouges). Their work was high quality, done in a timely manner, and came in below the estimate for the repairs. I am very happy with the quality of their workmanship, communication with the customer, speedy turn around for the project. I highly recommend Schooner Creek and will be using them again in the future.

i think that this is about as good as it gets in portland. found pricing competitive, when i arrived the boat was on the hard within an hour. they are of their word. work order was reviewed as needed and change orders were done quickly, thoroughly, and at competitive cost. i think the 7 lay days to do minor work by me was a great way to reaqaint me with my boat. thanks to pascal and his crew. i will be back.

Great experience, friendly staff to meet us and help us dock the boat. Everything was completed as expected in a very reasonable timeframe. Pascal helped get the boat moved to a slip and made sure everything was completed according to the plan and met our expectations. They are so professional here! We have friends who are having the same thing done to their boats (bottom paint) and they went on the hard at least two weeks before our boat and there boats still aren't done. Summer is short enough, take your boat where you can be assured of a reasonable turnaround at the price they estimated.

I had the keel on my Capri 25 re-bedded which included some glass work as well as new bottom paint. Excellent work at a very reasonable price. Cory Rheault was great to work with. I changed to a Santana 20 and had barrier coat and bottom paint done on it and, again, excellent work.
