I went to Poudre Valley Foot & Ankle Clinic in 2010 for foot pain. I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and went thru the typical treatment including custom orthotics at $450.00, purchasing several expensive athletic shoes (the doctor suggested any shoe with a brand that started with "A"), 1 try at injections but extremely painful and ineffective. After a year or so, the doctor advised I have surgery to release the fascia in both feet. I had the surgery with the hopes that the pain would be alleviated. To my surprise and extreme disappointment, there was no improvement whatsoever! The level and type of pain continued. I was left with 1 scar on either side of my ankle not to mention a few thousand dollars less in my checking account. I decided to visit another podiatrist in the area and I was diagnosed with tarsal tunnel syndrome not plantar fasciitis! I did not receive real treatment at that time other than another pair of orthotics. Podiatrist #3 also gave me a diagnosis of tarsal tunnel syndrome and prescribed yet again another pair of orthotics. What is very troubling is that I was misdiagnosed by the podiatrist at PVFA and had unnecessary surgery! Not a good experience at all so beware.
