As a first time visitor, I was delighted by the thoughtfulness of every aspect of the experience. The beautiful building, convenient parking, knowledgeable staff, videos for kids about what to expect for surgery playing, comfortable rooms, quality food with nutritional information, and most of all, the skilled professionals who communicated constantly, making sure families were informed about the care of the patients. All hospitals should be as welcoming and supportive.

I can not name a better children s hospital! They are so excellent with my children. The doctors and nurses rock! My youngest son always has a great time there and even when he is scared they make him feel so comfortable! They rock! my last 3 visits here have helped me find it in my heart that my passion is definitely peds. The smiles they bring to my kids and other kids touches my heart.

One of the worst hospitals and staff I have dealt with in my life! They can care less if your child has a brain cyst and is in agonizing pain daily! They do nothing! Especially the Neurosurgeons and Neurologist department. Run away from this hospital. Calling patient relations is also a waste of time! They just take your info and say they have forward it to the correct department.

This hospital is truly amazing. From the time we arrived to the ER, the staff has been nothing but wonderful. Every single person. They have been kind and have taken great care of my son. I feel reassured by their professionalism and knowledge. Anyone who has taken care of their sick child knows how important it is to trust your healthcare institution. I cannot express how impressed I have been with this facility and everyone that is employed here.

My child has been seen here since age 3 for chronic and very painful knee pain in one leg. My child is now 6 yrs old and still with knee pain. They ignore every voice mail and email I send them requesting a follow up app.. These doctors dont even know what's wrong with her but upon doing Xrays they said they cant tell me what they suspect so I dont worry because it might just be nothing. Will be looking for a different orthopedic in another location. Unbelievable that doctors suspect of a child having an illness and hide it from the parents and worst yet let the child suffer which such excruciating pain!

Waited over 6.5 hours for them to bring me any type of definite results of appendicitis of my child. 6.5 hours waiting alone no questions In uncomfortable hard chairs. As much money I'm sure this place probably has no excuse why patients parents or guardians have to wait uncomfortably not jus for an HR or 2 but for serveral hours!!!! U ask a question staff will tell u I will check on it and you won't see them again for 45 min to an hour. After getting out of ER, things went better. Communication was clear between doctors, nurses, plus including me in everything going on. I also noticed and staff claimed they are under staffed. They're medical staff is majority white. The "minority" That are employed at this hospital are cleaning, cooks, and valet and I know there are many qualified "minority" Medical staff capable of working here. I wonder why there is none but maybe 2- 3 in the entire hospital.

The worst ER department to go to, they will literally have you waiting for 3-4 hours they will act like they are going to see your child have you undress your child check temperature, weight etc. then after that have you think your child will be seen and you will just register and they will have you waiting for hours not caring about your child s wellbeing infant and toddler they show lack of care.. I would not recommend someone to come in with a sick infant in their hands because they show no empathy especially if you are from another background i saw this lady was mistreated I honestly think it was because of her background it broke my heart to see such a thing like that people need to stop the racism s already so for that reason I am rating this a 1- star from my experience here...

Horrible customer service; I have been billed for emergency services following a traumatizing event involving my child. Even after the state caseworker explained to the lady in registration that my insurance would NOT be billed for the examination because it was a STATE policy to check all of the children out after such event has taken place/reported. Not only am I attempting to pick up the pieces of my life and be there for my children, but I have a 750 dollar bill about to go to collections because your hospital refuses to honor what was said in front of several state employees as well as members of your emergency room staff. I work two jobs now and have called your hospital for the past 3 months and haven't received a return call from either your facilities or child services in regards to these bills. It amazes me how a CHILDREN's hospital could care so little about children, you'll bill a mother after state services assured your staff it would be taken care of on their end just to make a quick buck. I refuse to ever use your hospital again I'd rather pay the gas and go to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

They like to hide diagnoses. I don't know why or what they get out of it. It's wrong and unprofessional to hide test results and diagnoses from parents! My child was seen in Neurology for her frequent headaches and nausea she has experiencing for 3 years. Neurology said they found nothing on her MRI. I took the results to another neurologist and found out she has a brain cyst that's causing her pain. These can grow and even cause blindness! But they said everything was normal! My child has also been complaining of excruciating knee/ joint pain and the ortho dpt on A.I say everything is normal on X-rays. Again I took results to another orthopedist and it turns out my child has Coxa valga which causes limit mobility and pain. It can also make walking difficult if left untreated! Another issue the x-ray showed was Genu valgum which is a deformity! But according to A.I my child has nothing. I don't know how they sleep at night with all the lies they tell worried parents!

Set an appointment, called to reset-couldnt so kept it. Arrived, was told it was cancelled by me. Then they looked, oh, it was put back that day- it was cancelled 3 days ago by me. Knowing I didn't cancel it, upon further review a doctor cancelled it because the doctor had plans. There is a fee if I cancel an appointment in under 24 hours-for me though, not even a phone call to tell me not to bring my child down because the doctor doesn't feel like being overpaid. We WERE CUSTOMERS for a few years, never complained about the ridiculous prices and the endless bills for months over each visit. I have NEVER been treated as horribly for that much money EVER. We are just 1 family and us never going there again will not hurt the 'hospital' in any way, if it did, they'd just raise prices . As I look back, every single visit was some issue, I can't believe I put up with the lack of professionalism and endless bills for a single yearly visit. Im sure a witch doctor could be just as effective and far more professional than the McDonalds level employees working there

Horrible experiences over and over again. Continue to wait months for our daughter s results and it takes months to get a neurology appt. I have yet to find a doctor there that takes a sincere interest in caring and treating children except for 1 doctor in the behavioral health area. UPDATE: I contacted the number for the patient relations department as indicated below. They listened to my concerns and said they would research and get back to me no later than 30 days. Still haven t heard anything....

Bar none, hands down this hospital is the best hospital I ve ever visited and have used for my child. This place is an expertly well oiled machine that runs nearly flawlessly. From the front desk/reception, techs, medical assistants, nurses and physicians they re all amazing! They took care of our son when he injured himself on the football field. Dr. Alfred Atanda is exceptionally professional, respectful, courteous, kind, and most important an expert physician/surgeon in his field. He s never late and never rushes us. He answers every question using both technical, medical and laymen s terms. He s an expertly trained surgeon and we felt so very much at ease placing our son in his care. Thank you Dr. Atanda!! Thank you DuPont Nemours Hospital for children in Wilmington, Delaware for making us feel at home while away from home and for taking care of our big guy!! Keep up the excellent work u guys!!!

My son has been in this hospital for 3 days. He is on 3 east of the new hospital. I'm not much on leaving reviews but the hospitality has been great. I can honestly say it cant get any better. All the way from the doctors to nurses to the food. Hopefully it stays the same all the way through

We see several specialist at Nemours and have been in for several procedures. The staff is always great and they're always very accommodating and understanding, especially with us traveling from out of state to come in. We some times travel twice a week to get our daughter there. It's worth it to us, we get some of the best care for her here. We've been to several "leading" hospitals in search of treatment for our daughter, we certainly didn't get the quality of care that we do here at Nemours. The Doctors are always quick to respond when I send an email, they will take their time and answer all of my questions and they take my concerns seriously. When I need them to call, they always do so. I know my daughter isn't their only patient, far from it, but they make us feel like she's always a priority for them. The staff is always very great with my daughter. They understand that the children are scared and will do anything it takes to help put your child at ease. We couldn't be happier with our choice to move her care to Nemours.

Absolutely amazing staff and teamwork. From the moment we checked our child in for surgery we felt like we were in the "5 Star Resort" of medicine. This wasn't just because of the high standard of care it also came from a feeling of "genuineness" and honesty. Everyone from the surgeon to the janitorial staff expressed genuine interest and made my frightened daughter feel like the most important person in the world.

We had to come to the emergency room here twice in the past few days, and from the time you enter the door to the time you exit, the staff is absolutely amazing. They really care about and interact so well with the kids! We had a different doctor for each visit and each one was extremely thorough and took their time with us. I was so surprised by how long they sat with us to go over our reason for the visit, the care, and in explaining the after care procedures. The wait time was a little long but they make up for that in care, they really do. From now on this will be the only place we come for urgent care. Thanks!!

The worst staff in hospital history. How this is a children's hospital is astounding. The nurses gossip about possible avenues of treatment reached our child's ears hours in advance of anyone actually speaking to us. Then when we filed a complaint an asked to have a different staff member, it was a full security detail that was waiting at the door. They baited an provoke in an attempt to solicit a reaction from a father who had been standing at his daughter's side for over 24 hours, when they fail to get a reaction they want. They sit out side the room of that family an escort them to even the coffee shop. All of this in front of my child. We were forced to contact an attorney to even get basic information. We will be following up with complaints to the medical board. Kristin Barreggine should not be allowed near another family.

My son was diagnosed with Diabetes at AI and all the staff was amazing and kind not just to my son but to us the parents as well they constantly asked did we need anything and was very helpful. Funny thing my son just wanted ice but he couldn't have ice because of his health issue he says he liked the hospital but wished they have him ice when he first got there lol. Once he was able to eat and drink the Nurses made sure to load him up with ice every time he asked for it . But all the staff and every employee was so helpful to my entire family and they saved my babies life I donate everytime I go there I'm so grateful for care.

Our daughter was admitted here with a ruptured appendix. She was discharged 4 days later with high fevers. 4 days later we took her to the ER due to the un-subsiding fevers. We spent all day at the ER only to be told that we would be admitted as she had developed an abscess. This could've been avoided had they put a drain in the first place. We saw several doctors that said different things which made it very difficult to make informed decisions. They put a drain in her rear and she stayed there another 5 days. Most of the times, we had to call the nurses and stay on top of them for pain medications. One nurse did not know how to flush the tube and instead flushed the water back in my daughters' rear. When it came time for discharge, a nurse came to take the tube out which was unbelievably excruciating for our baby. Once done, my daughter went to use the bathroom just to see more strings hanging from her rear. We had to stay longer, they gave her morphine which didn't help as they had to pull the remnants off. During her entire stay, they had promised to sedate her to pull the tube out but when the time came, they did not stick to their word. This should NEVER be a bed-side procedure. Horrible! Horrible! Horrible experience.

This hospital is THE BEST. I am emotional just writing this review. My son @ 8 months at the time was rushed to this hospital and me and my husband had no idea of how serious it was. They saw that my son wasnt doing good so they acted fast, rushed him in the emergency room and immediately put him in an induced coma for 2 weeks. His name is Joshua and he had caught a bad case of pneumococcal meningitis and had a stroke. They immediately put him on every antibiotic for all the forms of meningitis until the test results came back and they had the correct name of meningitis to treat him. They didnt wait and they didnt waste no time. The doctors in that emergency room SAVED OUR SONS LIFE and we are FOREVER THANKFUL! This happened in April 2009. Not to mention the great family oriented hospitality they showed family and friends who came to see him. AIDUPONT CHILDRENS HOSPITAL OF DELAWARE YOU ROCK AND GOD BLESS ALL STAFF ON BOARD. SINCERELY A HAPPY, GRATEFUL AND BLESSED FAMILY.

How is it possible for such a big hospital with so many doctors to never have a same day sick visit app?? You call at 8am which is when they open leave voicemails and they never get back to you. If they do it's by the end of the day and they say they have no app available. A Kids health on call nurse told me that they are not allowed to make appointments! So I find it hard to believe they never have anything available the same day. What are we supposed to do? Leave our kids in pain and suffering until your able to accommodate? Please don't believe the review that says doctor's answer the phone personally in the middle of the night when calling! Only nurses answer the phones! They also don't go to your home to do surgeries

My granddaughter just came home after a brief stay. I can't say enough about the ER staff as well as all the physicians, nursing staff, residents and student nurses she was blessed enough to have cared for her on 4 west. This should be the model for all medical care. Thank you.

The Nurses and doctors are awesome and go above and beyond here at Ai. They love their job and are very caring. My friend got his appendix removed here (this was the place recommended) and the surgeon (I think his name was Chuck if I remember correctly, he s been there since 1991) did a very good job on the appendix removal and made sure that everything was ok. Only problem is that the wait times can be a little long.

My girlfriend's 6 year old was sent to the ER here with express orders from three doctors for an MRI due to extreme behavioral problems paired with alarming growth rates and the presence of facial and pubic hair. The team there said they would do the MRI, put a needle in his arm for an IV (while the orderlies HELD HIM DOWN), never used it to administer anything, did a CT scan and then sent him home after not allowing him to eat or drink for 8 hours because of the MRI that they said they were going to do but obviously never planned to do because "his life was not in danger". My girlfriend was then berated by the doctor and threatened that they would send him to an ADULT inpatient mental faciility where she would not be allowed to be with him.

There are no words to describe how much I love Nemours. I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer, and I had to be referred to an endocrinologist. I was first referred to Dr. Doyle. he was awesome and actually referred us to another endocrinologist, Dr. Gannon. he is hands down the best doctor ever. Not only is he so amazing at what he does, he is so kind and genuinely cares about his patients and their families. He saved my life, and I just can t thank him enough. He has referred me to the best doctors for my treatment. Like Dr. Berman, she was my surgeon. she was amazing as well. very kind and she is awesome at what she does, and my surgery went better than we could ve ever expected thanks to her. The nurses, radiologists, and the employees are so nice at Nemours. they don t treat you just like another patient, they really care about you and your family. I 100% recommend this hospital. Thank you Nemours

I was asking for directions at the operating room. I just wanted to talk to a rep. The staff ignored me! Insulted me! Unbelievably rude and unprofessional!!!!! If they treat me like a subhuman, I trully wonder if the safety, security, care and welfare of a patient is compromised. I strongly don't recommend this hospital! Not even for a "Band Aid"!

Only 2 caregivers ever allowed in the hospital. Children have more than 2 people who love and care for them. Fine that's the rule. Whatever. Tell me why I order a balloon for delievery to the room and I am told multiple times they can't find my child's name in the system. Is she really admitted? YES why would someone make this up?!? THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SAFE PLACE. A PLACE TO TRUST YOUR CHILDREN. THEY CAN'T EVEN FIND WHAT ROOM YOUR CHILD IS IN! terrible

My son has many specialists here. We were sent here because he has a history of seizures and his temperature was running high. The Emergency Department was on the ball, had all of his blood drawn and swabs down and antibiotics administered within an hour of being there. My son was admitted and we (my husband and I) got to stay in the room with him during the night. The doctors, nurses, aides, and even housekeeping have been so nice and attentive to our son. He even got an early christmas present while we were here! I couldn't have asked for better more professional care!
