THIS REVIEW DOES NOT DESERVE ANY STARS! But if i only put 1 star no one will see it! Went for dinner tonight and was sat over on the right-hand side of the place, 1 waitress to that whole area, server was VERY slow- we waited about 15 mins before we were served I had to call out to the waitress in the end- its was not even that busy at 9:30pm. - we ordered a gin and tonic- tonic was as flat as a pancake. so, we asked for another one- mgr. came over to express that she checked the fountain and bottle of co2 -(the gas) and it was fine... HUMM I wonder if she really knows on how the CO2 runs the fountain pump..(maybe that is covered in her management training! ) I should ask a friend of mine who manages a joeys downtown! . she brought us another tonic- just to try as she did not want to waste another Gin and tonic if we did not enjoy it. - IT WAS FLAT and looked like water and tasted like water .... BUT it had Bubbles when she put it in the glass - I guess from the 2 min walk over to our table the bubbles ran off. so, we said no its flat - ok can I get u another drink to replace the G & T- yes, a beer--- well she went off and NO return!! I guess the Beer monster got that bottle .. Humm then we had to ask the waitress for the beer, Oh she says it did not come ?? ... NO please get the manager - so 10 mins later here she comes and she did not know what happen she put the order in... WEll a suggestion for you if u put the order in wait for the beer and take it to the customer yourself!! This would of got you a few extra points don t u think !. We eat at this joeys all the time... we would get great service at the bar area... but I guess cause we had a 16 yr daughter with us we were sat in the back 90 - and left.!. but strange thing is we asked to sit on the patio - but so I hear tonight that the patio is 19+ . So weird my same 16 yr daughter was at the same Joeys last Sat night for a 16th birthday celebration and sat on that 19+ patio with 5 friends and had a dinner. we have sat on that 19+ patio many nights with the same daughter - I guess it depends on the mood of the staff/manager that night... where u can sit
I Have worked in customer service for over 30 yrs ..., the service should be #1. This has now given me a bad taste for joeys Markville. Its a real shame. we used to like going there.
We went home and got a real Gin and Tonic with Bubbles .
I am VERY disappointed with Joeys! !!!

Never been to a Joey with such bad cusotmers service

What a horrible experience, food was decent but for the price and service, not worth it at all. Food took nearly an hour to get to us, one by one, meaning we were all eating at different times (which isn't a huge deal but when you take into account waiting 60+ minutes for food and watching others eat or wait until yours comes... Yeah). We asked on three seperate occasions if the cake would come out for our friend who's birthday it was (never came) and a nice 18% tip on the bill we received (guess that's why they don't care about their service as they get their tip no matter what). Lame place, over rated, loud music and poor service. Hard pass.

Joyes markville mall is the place to have a fabulous lunch or dinner or just a drink food fantastic .Every one is super friendly .my server very good personality very professional and guide us with our menus choices..good job Agostine.

This is my second time at Joeys, and everytime I am always impressed by the service. I came for a get together and we were allowed to stay as long as we wanted, got all our stuff on time and was waited by the nicest people.
They did have a handful of vegetarian options and some options you can customize to make vegetarian. I didn't see anything that clearly said it was vegan. The cheese used in the dishes contain Rennet if that's a deal breaker for you. But you can order any dish without. Tea and soft drinks were $5, which was kind of annoying.

This burger was pretty good. It was soft to chew through, with a smooth patty. It contains brown rice, mushroom, almonds, miso dressing and sprouts and avocado. Definately not a burger you'd have at a bar. I would skip the fries, they were way to thin, and simple. The burger itself was $18 and by removing the cheese can be made vegan .

Delicious food, great atmosphere. The staff were super friendly and very attentive.

Great food, nice decor, a little pricey but worth every dollar spent

I visited the other day with my mother for dinner and we had an excellent experience! May was our server and took great care of us; always made herself known and was very attentive to whatever needs we had. Her warmth shined through her personality and was sensed even while wearing a mask during these hard times. We'll definitely be back again!

Late Night menu is fairly good but the price increases since the last time I was there.

I tried their steak and sushi. Highly recommended. Really tender steak and flavorful sushi. It a little bit more higher than average price but who cares if the quality stays consistent. Really nice waitress too.
Also their garlic bread is really nice

The food is good, fresh and flavourful yet not too salty. A good choice when your with a group of people. Price point is high, but not overly expensive. Cheaper and a better choice than Moxie's.

Good place for young adults to enjoy a meal with their friends. Do not recommend for big families with elderly because of high noise level. Very dim lighting. Good food.

We ordered the daily special wine which is the 6oz crushable red for $6 and also the pesto shrimp flatbread. The red is surprisingly good with some light smokey taste. The flatbread is perfect for sharing.

Food took a long time to arrive and steaks were overcooked. The manager was nice and decided not to charge us for the steaks and offered something else if we wanted

Emily & Sarah was very accomodating with our meal overall... service as usual was a 10/10!

Nice young crowd environment is entertaining food is fine.

Good environment, very clean, and as far as upscale food goes, it's generally very well priced and tasted very good too. No complaints.

Food was good. Appetizers were on the cold side. Overall food good and service good

Service was great; very friendly. Environment is excellent. I love the appetizers; calamari, wings, etc, etc. You really can't go wrong no matter what you pick. The price point is on par with similar restaurant chains: Jack Astor's, Cactus Club and Earls but the food quality and presentation trumps the competition every time.

Awesome service. Great atmosphere. Me and some friends went for a birthday celebration last night - Yalda, our server was fast, friendly and detail oriented. Would definitely recommend!

Great looking place! Rustic, trendy. Prices on point for steak and seafood. Was busy when we arrived later than planned at group dinner. Waitresses were great about grabbing our orders quickly to keep us on time with rest of the group. Ordered prime rib. My bad, menu said Prime Sirloin. Waitress was super apologetic, offered ribs to go for mix up...great attention there to customer satisfaction. No time, so just took the sirloin with asparagus. Have to say, cooked perfectly. Experience was pretty good up til then.
Staff lost major points at the end as brought separate checks and mixed them all up. Very few were correct, then made every excuse and even got a little argumentative. Not great. Don't mind mistakes, we are all human, it was busy...just a quick apology and fix it would have been good.
Not a fan of their Auto Grat added on AND THEN TAXED! Keep your eyes open here and ask for no Auto Grat and you will be fine!
Atmosphere great! Food really good! Service great until the end. Sad. Probably not a place I would choose again.

Ordered through door dash and did picked up at the restaurant. Food was amazing and the personalized thank you note was a surprise!

This lounge restaurant has some amazing happy hour deals; drinks starting at $3.50 for a bottle of beer and $4.00 for snack food items and $10.00 plus for meals.

That said the service can be quite slow at times!
I would suggest sitting at the bar with a few friends to get the quickest service.

The patio on a nice summer day with friends is great bonus as well. No TVs however for sports ect.

In summary great happy hour deals (3 to 6pm and 9 to close), hit or miss service.

The service and food is very hit or miss here, however this wasn t the only issue this time. Sometimes the servers will be attentive and other times not at all, generally the service is pretty quick but at my last visit the food was taking a while. My daughter s chicken sandwich and fries (which she usually loves) was extremely salty and greasy with burnt bread. Also observed a waiter who consistently took his mask off and kept it off, I understand it s hot out but if you are to take your mask off for a breath do not do so in the dining room and around customers. This is very unprofessional and unsafe, will not be coming back for a while.

Awesome service , clean and friendly . I will definitely come back again especially Ron was an amazing server and entertainer . I will definitely come back when he is working next . Thanks Ron !!!

First time there, burger was excellent and hit the spot. I'm not sure if the food tasted so good because I was starving. Great atmosphere, music a bit loud, but that's to cover the chatter amongst all the people talking.

I'll definitely go back, though give yourself plenty of time, as parking is a real P.I.T.A.

Called a day in advance for reservations and told them that it was our 2 year anniversary. Got there and the atmosphere was nice, the staff were polite and they knew exactly who I was.. from beginning to end our server did a excellent job. At the end of our meal, Nelly bought a platter with 2 champagne to celebrate our anniversary. Not necessary but one of the nicest gestures we ve received. Shout out to Nelly! And Joey Markville for making this experience a memorable one.

Joey Markville was fully packed when I got there. I didn't have a reservation but they got me a table fairly quickly. I had the Spanish paella, mushroom soup and steak and sushi. The Spanish paella was good. It was a bit oily but was delicious. It came with shrimps and sausages on top. The mushroom soup was one of my favourites. It was creamy and rich with sliced mushrooms inside. The steak and sushi was stunning. It was a surf and turf dish and had wagyu steak on one side and their rainbow roll on the other. The steak was cooked to perfection and was very juicy with a light teriyaki sauce. The rainbow roll was amazing. It contained crabmeat and different sauces. Overall the restaurant was amazing. If you would like to eat there I recommend a reservation. Service was a bit slow but due to its amount of guests, it was an acceptable speed.

Food quality was excellent, wait staff were fantastic and great conversations came from their fun demeanor. I'll be back for sure.

Being in the Markville Mall this place is convenient for a quick bite and drink. The food is okay but the service is always stellar.

Everytime I order a steak at JOEY's I regret it - sometimes it's bland, and sometimes it's way too salty. One thing I would recommend would be the sushi cones. Service is mediocre and could be better.

Usually I'm not a big fan of these types of places , ie. Milestones. But it was the first time at Joey's and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food. Hats off to the chef and his staff. The reason why I did not give a 5 star rating was that we were only allowed to use 80% of a gift card's value. I assume a built in 20% tip, but we still couldn't apply to the cheque. This was a disappointing ending to what would have been a good dining experience.

Always a pretty solid experience here. Sometimes service can be slow, but that's usually because of how much volume they have to deal with. Steaks are a bit overpriced, but holy cow - the deep fried mash potato things almost make it worth paying the premium on the steak.

One of my favourite restaurants! The service is incomparable. In terms of food, they have something for everyone.

One of, if not THE worst service experience from a restaurant I have ever had. Booked a dinner for my staff, and had hoped the night would be fun, instead it was soured by what happened.

Where do I start, they dropped the ball multiple times, and were even able to drop the ball AFTER the issues had been brought up to the manager.....insane the staff responsible is still employed after this. Let me list all the things they did wrong:

1.Ball Drop # 1: We reserved a table for 10 for this past Saturday, we did so 4 days previously, and were told they would send an email to confirm the reservation. No email was sent, so we called on Friday to ensure it was confirmed.......nope sure wasn't confirmed. Had to spend 10 minutes on the phone ensuring we would have a table, and ended up having to settle for a table at the bar.... for TEN people!!

2. Ball Drop # 2: Upon being seated, it was determined our table only had seating for 6 people, and there were no additional chairs available??? So they moved us to two separate tables, a U shaped booth which sat 5 of us, and the round table directly across from it that sat 4 people. How do you have a nice staff appreciation dinner when the staff are split up from each other at separate tables......oh that's right.... you DON'T. It was essentially two separate dinners, and ruined the point of the whole thing.

3. Ball Drop # 3: Service speed, and service in general was very poor, we were not attended to with regards to drink orders, and when the meal was over, and the server came over with dessert menus, she dropped the dessert menus and did not come back....for 40 minutes!!!

4. Ball Drop # 4: After eating their meals, my staff who were sitting at the round table decided to go outside for a smoke and to get some air, (after all they were waiting more than 40 minutes for anyone to come and take a dessert order, or a drink order even), while they were outside, their table was given away! Yes,that's right, no bill was paid, no dessert order was taken, the meal was NOT FINISHED, and they seated someone else at the table! This act is what set me off, I was livid at this incompetence, and the complete lack of respect for our large party (after all gratuity is included in the bill with parties of 8+).

5. Ball Drop # 5: Upon my staff's return to the given away table, one of them requested the manager (spoke with a server to request this). The server was not aware I was watching this request at the booth, and was not aware I was going to witness the DIRTY LOOK / SCOWL she made after my staff requested the manager....this made me even more livid, what a complete lack of respect at this point.... but it get's better!

6. Ball Drop # 6: Upon speaking with the manager (myself), I was told she was the Junior Manager on duty, which made me ask, WHERE was the Senior Manager, and why were they not speaking with me? Not until the end of the whole ordeal did the senior manager make an appearance.....again making me feel utterly disrespected that with all of the above things occurring, she (senior manager) sent their junior over to deal with it? But wait, it gets better!

7 Ball Drop # 7: Somehow, someone on the Joey Markville staff thought it would be a good idea to send complimentary drinks over for all the above trouble, but guess what? THEY SENT THEM TO ONLY ONE TABLE, completely unaware of our booth??? This was AFTER I spoke with the junior manager. How can you mess up so bad, then in your attempt to smooth things over, mess up even worse?

Let's make the above long story short: The service staff and management at this location have a number of issues with service they need to address, and by the reviews left it appears it is not just me, it is many others experiencing poor service at this location.....

Joey Markville Owners: If you read this review, please know I will never eat at your location again. But please, if you want to improve, look at all the ball drops above and discuss them with your staff, then try to fix them.

Service is okay. Everything is good to eat and is pleasing to eat. Table maintenance is not the best. There are many food choices ranging from a lot of different cuisines

I like joey's taste very much, and there is almost no queuing here. Parking is also very convenient.

Mediocre food for its price range. The gyoza is outrageously overpriced for the quantity provided. Nothing special here

My husband and I had dinner at Joeys Markville on March 1. This was our second visit to this location and the experience was even better than the first. What made the experience so great was our sever Yalda. Although it was a busy night she made sure we were taken care of all night and she did it with a smile, and a positive personality. She s a great addition to your team. This is the type of staff you should keep and ensure she is acknowledged.

waited thirty mins for water and to be seated and to even be told the menues were online. waited in line but the host took people that came after us blatantly because of god knows why .

Good food and good service but it is a bit pricey. Reservation is required for dinner or there will be a long wait.

When I got there the place looked very nice and there was no wait getting seated we got seats very fast. When we looked at the menu the food looked very good and waitresses came fast and very often to take our orders. The appetizers were very good but the sliders could have been better, the patty was too thin and not very flavourful. When the main dish came all the food was very good and tasted amazing. Then finally the Deseret, the Deseret was very flavourful and probably the best part. I highly recommend trying the apple pie. JUST DO NOT ORDER SLIDERS From my overall expierence the food and service was very good, the negative was the sliders but that's it, I definitely recommend this place.

It's a groovy spot to hang out with friends. Relatively affordable menu with a variety of options. I had the pork dumplings and they were delicious. I recommend Joey's at the Markville mall.

Decent food. Ahi Tuna Club is probably my favourite. Markville gets really busy on weekends and evenings, so account for that.

Got the chicken burger and was honestly very disappointed with the lack of flavour. Honestly for that price I could have gotten a way better burger from any other place close to Markville. Service was amazing but the food was a let down.

- Waited 20 mins past the time we booked table even though i saw a bunch of empty tables (yes even taking covid in account, totally empty tables with noone close were empty yet we weren't seated to them)
-Waited another 15 mins sitting at table before any waitress came by, a waitress i made eye contact with not assigned to our table came and got our drink orders
-Food was extremely salty and drinks were barely average

We had a quiet early Saturday morning business meeting here. Quiet spot. Understanding staff to come patiently and ask if we were ready to order. We had variety of food choices at the table. I would highly recommend. Loved the decor!

Slow service eventhough there were plenty of hostesses and wait staff bustling about. I ordered their roast chicken salad and was not impressed by the little amount of chicken pieces on it.

visited this location last week and the service was way below our expectations. Our waitress was no where to be seen half the time, we actually didn't even know who our waitress was. The food and drinks were mediocre. Was not impressed at all !

Well run restaurant. Staff are attentive. Plenty of room between patrons. Great job managing social distancing requirements.

Came here for lunch. We ordered pesto shrimp flatbread and Korean fried cauliflowers to start, both have a lil kick to it, which is nice. All of their main are good portion sizes.

Only been to this location for lunch, service is always good, bit of a wait for the food, however, it's worth the wait. It is connected to the mall, so it's a nice stop before or after shopping.

Been to the other locations and keeps up with the same good quality in service, food, and nice decor. Can get a little loud at times.

Calamari app is nicely done and very tender. Ahi tuna burger is fresh and light, has a lot of flavor. Lobster ravioli is rich and cooked perfectly Al dente. Bistro chicken was not bad but nothing special though I do like the fries. Overall good food and nice ambience

Very disappointed with this location. Good was great but service was terrible. Server had an attitude that showed she could care less about our table. Took forever to come over to take order. Did not engage in conversation. Didnt even get her name. Food took way too long. Bill took 15 mins or so to be bought out.

Food and service was excellent, I've had the bbq salmon bowl and calafornia chicken burger and both great. You'll need a reservation if you're dinning at the weekend

The wait was long but the free champagne made it easier to bare. Service was really good despite how busy the restaurant was and the food was great tonight.

I meant to book a reservation for my friend s birthday at Joey Markville for Saturday night, but accidentally made it for Sunday night. It was very busy so I was worried we wouldn t get seated. Thankfully, the hostess (Ariana) was very understanding and worked hard to get us in for my friend s special day. She was so warm, genuine and friendly! She made our night. We ll for sure be coming back next time I'm in town (with the right reservation this time!)

To top it all off, the food was great! It was delivered at the right temperature and everyone got their main courses at the same time. We all had a memorable evening and highly recommend this place.

I definately feel like Norm from Cheers whenever i drop in.
Its a place to go with family and friends.
My fav is their burgers but everything on their menu is consistantly delish .
Staff are always frirndly and srrvice is great.

Absolutely perfect!! My toddler granddaughter and I went to Joey Markville for lunch today (Saturday) without a reservation. They found us a table immediately. My granddaughter was hungry and insistent that she wanted scrambled eggs for lunch. They normally don't have breakfast items all day but the serving associate and chef quickly cooked scrambled eggs for her and we had one very happy toddler and an appreciative grandma there. I ordered the lobster ravioli which was delicious and made just right. It's always such a pleasure eating there. All staff is super friendly and extremely courteous and go above and beyond just good service. Thank you for another 5* experience.

Great food!! Attention is super friendly, ambiance and decor are inviting. I really enjoyed the tuna salad, the burger(is fantastic). Great beer selection too.

Never had a bad experience with this place. servers are always quick and very friendly. atmosphere is nice, food is amazing. I've been about 10 times and again, never had a bad experience. 5 stars for me.

Nice Location, Nice Hostesses, Great drinks.... Was a little upset that they charged us for the Tuna roll even though it had plastic Saran Wrap on it.. asked for it to be taken away but was still added to my bill... Pretty Good

It's okay. The food is quite pricey and not that great or anything. Some of the servers are really rude too if you don't look like you'll tip much. I think the only plus side about this place is the outdoor patio.

Always a great time at Joeys but an extra special one tonight. Sat at the bar and service was exceptional. Was surprised by our servers with three dessert platters after they learned that our first date was at this very restaurant and now 3 years later, happily married and expecting our first baby. From one restauranteur to another cheers! You guys rock!

Attended fit a friend's birthday. We were given a booth. With two people at each end and one in the middle the pertains on either end had difficulty hearing each other.

Everyone said they enjoyed the food but thought the star of the portions was a bit limited. You almost need two items to be satisfied.

Service was friendly and decently quick.

Might return for another event but likely wouldn't add this to the weekly rotation.

Food is a little pricey but worth the quality. Waitress was amazingly friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is very professional. Will be back.
