Although Kazakhstan a glorious country, it have a problem, too: economic, social, and Jew.
In the heart of Almaty, most attractive places close or easier to go, great staff, coffee shop 24 Hours in the lobby, great services
It is the historical building of Soviet architecture. The hotel Kazakhstan was the first skyscraper of the Soviet Almaty and the first one to have the most progressive foundation for anti-earthquake protection. The position of Kazakhstan hotel is strategic to reach the most important tourist places such as Koktube, The National Museum of Kazakh History, The museum of Minerals, The Ballet Theater, Medeo, Chymbulak. The neighbouring Novotel could confirm it. At the same time the rooms in Kazakhstan hotel cost much less. There are various restaurants and bars, a souvenir shop, a hairdresser and other facilities inside.
Room, surroundings and location fantastic. I had a wonderful view from my room. Very disappointing breakfast - coffee machine made disgusting coffee ( seriously) - only cooked offering was boiled egg or porridge/semolina - worst of all NO prepared fresh fruit - just apples on a plate.
Old building.. small rooms.. tiny Washrooms..
Location is too good....
Breakfast is same each day.. but lot of variety..
Iconic hotel on a great location in Almaty. It s huge, but worn-down... not the lobby, but the rooms seriously need some renovations or at least some new beds (worst bed I had in ages).
Still quite awesome to stay there though. The wellness is a bit hidden away (think it was on the 16th floor or something) and limited (sauna broken, so only steam-room). The high floors have great views over Almaty or the mountains. Breakfast was ok, with a great terrace.
