We have ordered a few kinds. Some of them were extremely sugary, some were dry. The quality wasn t much better than of a cake from the box. Had them about a year ago and now they are half the size and the same price. Overall disappointing on many levels.

Line was short when we arrived on a Sunday afternoon. Cupcakes are about $3.25/piece and decent sized. Staff is friendly. Cupcakes are exceptional. Afterwards pop down to the Potomac. Do recommend.

This place was with the wait, prob just waited 10 min though. I think I have tasted almost every flavor they have to offer..... the chocolate Gnoche is my least favorite. Other than that so rich and fast- especially with a cup of tea!

Wide variety of cupcakes. Very small area for forming a line and crowded seating area. For the flavor of cupcakes themselves I would rather walk down the street and get some at Sprinkles.

Just drove an hour and half to be at the store when it opened at 10am to purchase cupcakes. However you have to order ahead of time because they are not accepting in store orders. As a business.....you would think they would have this posted on the website......NOT........GT Cupcakes do better

Delicious and beautiful fresh baked cupcakes in a large variety of flavors. They offer daily and monthly special flavors in addition to those available on a daily basis. Small shop but well organized and spotless with friendly and efficient staff. Be prepared to wait in a line that forms outside (but moves quickly). Finding parking can be tricky.

The cupcakes are pretty good. I think their icing is the only difference I can spot, compared to other cupcakes. Other than that, it's a nice atmosphere there and their food is overpriced just a little.

We drove all the way from Pennsylvania to buy their cupcakes and they were not open for pick up. Delivery was open for next day. What s the point of buying a cupcake for next day consumption. Not worth it. Went to Sprinkles next door and their cupcakes were awesome !!

Nice stop on our trip. Long wait for cupcakes. Not worth one hour of my time, but for the kids we had to do it. By 9pm they ran out of almost everything, wish someone would have told us while waiting on the line. I felt sorry for the people that were told they were closed. No more cupcakes. Wow, that was about 50 people cut off.

I was skeptical of the quality since I figured the place was probably over- hyped by their show. Boy was I WRONG. We tried the Mocha Chocolate Chip Cheesecake and the Cherry Blossom Cheesecake and they were beyond amazing. They really know how to balance their desserts as they were the perfect amount of sweetness, not overly sweet like a lot of other places. The cookie crust at the bottom was heavenly on both cupcakes. I'm incredibly impressed and now I have a new spot for that occasional celebration treat.

You obviously have to line up and wait for roughly 7-10mins. We got there at dusk and had to line up for 10 minutes. But trust me, its worth it!
The service is good and quick. To have a sit inside you'll need some luck.
The cupcakes are amaaaazing! Not to sweet, would be perfect to pair with tea or coffee. The frosting is just at the right amount and soft. A must-try place!

The worst CUSTOMER SERVICE ever. Soooo extremely disappointed. I patronize Georgetown Cupcake all the time! I am a DC firefighter and placed a pick up order for a fellow firefighters birthday, I thought it was the least I could do as they are running calls day and night serving the citizens on their birthday. They had a favorite flavor, I placed the order that morning which went thru and I was charged for. It was hard to get there between calls but we finally made it thru rush hour traffic only to be told they don't have the cupcakes. I was REALLY disappointed to say the least because I didn't want my coworker to be disappointed. To top it all off,, the attitude I recieved from the "Store Manager" was unbelievable. The clerk that was helping me was nice, she said they could refund my money but it would take 2-3 days to get it back. Hold on I jumped thru hoops to get here after placing an order only to arrive to be told they dont have the cupcakes and I have to wait 2-3 days to get my refund? If you guys made the mistake why do I have to wait for days for my money back, its not as if I cancelled the order. And it didn't take 2 -3 days for you to get my money. So I ask for the manager .... the Store Manager (Yazmine) stormed from around the corner with an attitude before I could say anything to her, as if she was the one being inconvenienced. "I asked could I get my refund while I am here because its hard to reach you guys ... the phone is always busy and/or it just rings and nobody answers." She said "Look I'm busy doing something right now ... I can do it in 1/2 hour when Im finished what I'm doing ... and the sooner you let me do it ... the sooner I can refund your money" with attitude as if I was a child. I said nicely once again ... is there anyway you can just refund me with a receipt while I am here so I know it will be taken care of? " She said ... "I said I will do it in 1/2 hour, I m not doing it right now" and she stormed off with the attitude. At this point I'm at a loss for words, I was never rude but disappointed yes ... but to be talked to in this manner was unacceptable. So I just left because I didn't want this to escalate any further. This was the worst customer service by a "Store Manager" (Yazmine) that I have ever recieved, when THEY were the ones that made the mistake and completely wasted our time. I didnt even get an apology from the manager, the attitude was just like oh well. They didn't care about disappointing their customer or what we had went thru to get there. Needless to say, I have always patronized Georgetown Cupcake for myself and my fellow coworkers on their birthday .... I guess they are so big now that customer service is not really important to them at this point. But after today I will NEVER spend my money here again! And I will be sure to inform ALL my fellow firefighters in the DMV to not purchase here as well. Sad!. And of course my refund was not processed as of yet as the manager said ....

I really like Georgetown Cupcake. I know some people say it's overrated, but I think they're really good. I wouldn't get the cupcakes when it's too close to closing time. I did once, it tasted stale and disappointing. But usually their cupcakes are light, fluffy, and delicious.

There was a long queue waiting for this bakery to open and now I understand why. In a word- breathtaking. The best cupcake I've ever had and the choice was so vast. In my view, the best cupcakery in DC and Georgetown.

It's very awesome cupcake that I had before.

It's very awesome cupcake that I had before.

For the first before enter to order, you may line for a moment to get in the store. Then you will found wonder beautiful cupcake that lay on the level tray which furnish various colorful cupcakes.

Promotions in here have 6pcs., 12pcs. and 18 pcs. is on a special price which per each below 3.00$ if you order less than you will count on a normal price

Taste of dessert, Absolutely the dessert have many flavors I buy a red valvet, chocolate fudge, chocolate something caramel and chocolate classic like. Each taste there some cake base is the same but the flavor add-on made the cake different. For me the chocolate fudge is the best which have sweet, some salt and some sour that make it 's perfect.

Well, it is cupcakes, which I really didn't get why people would stand in lines for 30 min to get some. I got 4, and I loved all of them. So I understand the hype. I loved lavender and red velvet cupcakes. It would be a nice gift to people when you are returning from DC. Still I don't think it is a place people should spend 30 min in line to get an order.

In our family we do fun reviews on new cafes and bakeries. So my daughter wanted our upcoming bakery trip to be Georgetown cupcakes!

So I placed a pickup order yesterday for a pickup today at 10:00.

We live over an hour away and with traffic and life we ended up arriving around 11 something.

Our review has three factors :
The look of the place
The Customer Service
The Food

We score from 1-10 and at the end say if it is a repeat. So here s our review

The look - 4
It is a small space and when we came the place was filled with people waiting in line . Definitely crowded. But aside from that the look of the place wasn t anything that stood out for us.

The Customer Service - 1
This was the one thing that really was a huge disappointment especially when you have minors with you who notices everything.
When I approach the young lady finishing up a box there was no acknowledgement. I had to speak first asking is this where I go for pickup .
She said yes and ask for my name and went to a floor section and grabbed our bag. There was no thanks for coming no anything.

We go to so many cafes and bakeries that once we left out the girls were like they weren t very welcoming

For myself self indulgent places likes sweets and coffees needs to be welcoming and have a great vibe . Within a few seconds it was very clear that vibe was not present at this bakery.

The food-4
The decoration was very pretty . We loved them actually . Unfortunately for our home the cupcakes overall fell under . No one finished any of their cupcakes . They were just sweet buttery sweet. I could hardly taste any type of flavors that the cupcakes were suppose to have.

The final feedback
For our family Georgetown Cupcakes will not be a repeat business we support.

I was assured they would live up to my expectation, what a disappointment after waiting in a ridiculously long line in the rain we get back to our room just to eat dry cakes loaded granulated sugar frosting. I have had better cupcakes from my local grocers. Not a happy camper.

Was excited to share this experience with my daughters who have waited years to try one of these famous cupcakes. What a disappointment! Came in on a Thursday at around 8:00 pm. Not too long of a line so that wasn t bad. They were out of red velvet (one daughters first choice), but there were others to try. Got our order and went to sit down at the one open table and noticed how really DIRTY and UNKEPT the store was. Asked one young lady if someone could clean off our table. She brought over dry paper towels and proceeded to just wipe the table crumbs to the floor like it was no big deal. Yuck! We could watch the employees from our table who were supposedly working in the back area on food product. One was texting on her phone and the other one was eating something from a bowl. Not something that should be witnessed. We quickly ate our cupcakes and left. The table was nasty as well as the bathrooms! Don t use them unless you have no other choice. The counter and display areas looked like they hadn t been cleaned in a while. The floor and counters were dirty and the wood is all worn out in both areas. The inside and outside windows need a good cleaning and even the outside of the store needs a good cleaning overall. The used box stickers on the floor and window are disgusting too. If you are going to charge over $3.00 for one of your famous cupcakes, then your signature store and employees should reflect a higher quality of service and upkeep. Save your money and buy elsewhere! Not worth the time and your health to eat this overpriced product.

Honestly, it's just ok. The draw is that it is famous and extremely popular, but the cupcakes are just average. Definitely not worth the money, but it's a tourist attraction due to the tv show.

I bought some of them because they are famous ... sweet! It's so sweet!
It was No.1 sweetness in this half-life. I do n t know the taste.
Because it is a popular store, it will feel delicious to local people, but it was a shocking sweetness for the Japanese.

Though I have visited Georgetown Cupcake on numerous occasions, one particular visit best displays my feelings for Georgetown Cupcake:

About a month in to Sprinkles Cupcakes' opening, I stopped at Sprinkles at 9:00 AM to use a gift card I had good for a dozen cupcakes. I had introduced a coworker to Sprinkles when it first opened in DC, and though she said she enjoyed the cupcake, she hadn't yet tried a Georgetown Cupcake, so I told her I'd stop by and get her one on my way back from picking up Sprinkles Cupcakes.

Since Georgetown Cupcake doesn't open up until 10:00 A.M., I walk to Georgetown Cupcake with a dozen Sprinkles Cupcakes in hand, and wait in the line that's already forming outside the door.

A gentleman behind me notices my Sprinkles bag, and asks "Are you doing a cupcake tour of DC?"
I reply, "No, I definitely prefer Sprinkles, but my coworker wants to compare Georgetown Cupcake to Sprinkles, so I'm picking one up for her."
The gentleman then states that he is looking for cupcakes to take back to his children, and asks which place I would recommend. I quickly and honestly state, "Georgetown Cupcake has "prettier" decorations which I think little girls would love (sprinkles, chocolate drizzle in cute arrangements, cute fondant cutouts, etc.)so I would definitely stick to Georgetown Cupcake for the kids."
The gentleman seem quite satisfied that his waiting in line for cupcakes was now justifiable.
My waiting in line was also justifiable, because I was waiting in line to get the free cupcake of the day to prove that Sprinkles Cupcakes is better.

Here's what I like about Georgetown Cupcake: the fondant decorations. I actually enjoy eating them more than the cupcake itself.
Here's what I don't like about Georgetown Cupcake: There's too much frosting and it's too sweet! Frosting has always been my favorite part of a cupcake. When baking cupcakes as a child, if a cupcake came out smaller than the rest of the cupcakes, and didn't reach the top of the cupcake liner, I would fill the rest of the cupcake liner with frosting. Oh how Georgetown Cupcake quickly changes everything. I have to fling chunks of frosting off my fingers into the nearest trash can as I walk down the street eating my cupcake. This is a big deal coming from me, because I have always lived by "You can never have too much frosting."
